Btw, can I check why under a Scheme of Arrangement TH only needs 75% approval at an EGM to privatise and compel minorities to accept and delist whereas under a General Offer they would need 90% acceptance to acquire and delist? If so, why doesn't every acquire go down the SA route instead? Seems like a sleight of hand? | ||||

1.68 is what temasek work out without earning the wrath of taxpayers since smrt performance these few year not good, lot of breakdown as they put profit before service |

Brother, I  am torn between two  opposing pts.  As a shareholder, I' ll always hope for more.  As a tax payer, I' ve never shied away from  criticising SMRT (n SBST) for being funded partly by tax payers n yet paying div yr in yr out because of the monopolistic position it enjoys.  Before this privatisation, I was particularly vocal abt govt funding part of the bus fleet via the BSEP so that SMRT n SBST continued to be comfortably profitable.  The other pt that is relevant is that whatever the case, every coy must be evaluated to its true value, setting aside non-financial considerations, including political ones.  That' s what the ruling party here advocates, isn' t it?  So, if a relevant yardstick is PE, n the average global PE for similar coys is, say, 25 - 30, then shareholders are justified to expect TH to pay that valuation, even if it works out to, say, $2/share.  These are  my views.

Temasek use taxpayer money to invest so cannot overbid, cma nol offer is private so get a better deal since taxpayer not involved. |

bro ..... one question need your enlightening ..... NOL involve a sale to a private entity, whereas SMRT involve a privatisation by TH ..... isn' t there a difference in the way it will be treated ?  or how shareholders will  handle it ?    thanks .....

Deal would go through and pray hard th raise their bid or when offer collapse so would stock price as profit margin magically disappeared when rail asset sold to th. |

This is a privatisation of public interest.  My sense is it might not have been  TH that started the ball rolling.  So, somehow, they will find a way to make it go through.  If they don' t up the px, they wld probable try to bombard us with information why it is in shareholders' best interests.  Let' s watch n see ....

I dont think they will offer higher. I' m vested too so would like to hope that they revise up but i think for the time being have to see if SIAS says anything. All the best brother.

11 million shorted at average 1.65. Looks like same thing happening as with NOL. My view is that deal will go thru.   Wednesday' s announcement has sparked a lively debate on whether the offer price of S$1.68 a share is adequate. There are gripes among shareholders hoping for something closer to S$2 - but this being a scheme of arrangement rather than a general offer, the offer price will not be further revision.

Most likely foreign fund managers who managed retirement fund, anyway it a done deal like it or not. Hope SIA not the next one to go since our sea and land transport companies all gone left air transport. SIA fair value in range of 11 so if privatisation most likely at 12. |
