Unless there is bad news esp from usa, china and red sea, they are likely to surge. I hope the big boys can dump some first so that the smaller fish can eat before they push up haha

But , I think the profits will be more than 10b and since the bank has surplus liquidity which Gupta has previously mentioned will return to shareholders , a final of $1 dividen is very likely . OCBC does not have a history of paying special dividens and I do not expect them to pay this year . Still , I would expect the final dividen to be 40cts min , 42 cts likely , and 45 cts max . Paying 42 or 45 cts will exceed their committed payout ratio of 50% but then again , last financial year they paid out 53% , presumably due to ample liquidity as well .  UOB a bit harder to predict . They paid special dividen only once in recent years , and with Citi / Visa integrations this year , its hard to predict their profits . They paid put 85cts interim and I expect 90 to 95 cts for the final . If they dont pay that , I think the market will continue to sell down this counter .  One month later , we will know .

DBS - Started at $34 , ended $33.41  , - 0.59% . But if you include the $2.30 dividen received , total return is +5.03% . UOB - Started $30.89 , ended $28.45 , - 7.90% . Including dividen of $1.60 , total return is -2.7% . OCBC - Started $12.27 , ended $13 , +5.95% . Including dividen of $0.80 , total return is +12.47% .  Despite the record profits and solid dividens in 2023 , the share price performance are not particularly impressive , except for OCBC .  UOB profits are probably affected by payment for its Citibank aquisition however I feel that the fundamentals are still very strong and its share price will outperform DBS and OCBC ( in terms of % upside ) in 2024 . All 3 banks registered dividen yields of over 6% in 2023 . Take note that the above statistic is for CALENDER YEAR and not financial year which would have been more appropriate . Happy investing .

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Santa rally has finally arrived ( or shall I say Capricorn effect ) and  what they lost in the past few weeks was clawed back in a matter of few trading days . Traditionally they will be on uptrend during Chinese New Year and with the next one in mid Feb 2024 , it coincides with their results release and Singapore Budget announcement . Perhaps it may be a healthy sign if there are some pullbacks or profit takings in Jan 24 they cant keep going up and up . In any case I do not trade so these price movements are just another form of entertainment .  Happy new year all .

Of course, their fundamentals are exceptional. Even with the expected Fed cut, earnings would still be expected rolling in as their business outlook are ok. During uncertain times, banking stocks are an safe haven with an annual yield about 5-6%. It is a pity I missed out at 12.21 level to add more. Wait for correction and collect dividends lo. Good luck.
