just going thru the reports and saw majority share holder and director mr ban took his entire scrip dividend at 0.13cents. His total dividend  was worth about 1.145million dollars  This goes to show the confidence he has on the company that he is invested in.Waiting for next month quarterly announcement to check for goodies   |

the price has already dropped to below the dividend scrip price of $0.13 per share. As such it would not be prudent to take the scrip dividend as you can buy it at a further discount from the open market. That is why i opted to take take cash dividend this time around after many years of scrip dividends. I think the price will drop a little bit more and thus hoping to catch it when in drops slightly more. I was hoping that they will change the dividend scheme to share buy back and prop up the price but not happening. I believe this is a good counter as all the big boys are still holding on. Hope for the best

I been buying and holding this for quite some time. But normally, I will buy at around 0.130 - 0.140 and still looking to top up some. My plan is to queue and try get it at a lower price, which is $0.129 now or buy once it raise to $0.132. So Just a question, will it be reasonable to place it at a lower price $0.129 or should I place lower?? As now there a lot of movement at $0.131 and queuing at $0.130.   |

After having collected many scrip dividends, I believe this time round i will go for the cash dividend. The last two rounds the share price dropped to below the scrip dividend price and if it is continued trend i think it is better to take cash and buy the share when the price drops nad if the price remains the same it is good cos you dont lose out munch. Just a suggestion for all shareholders.  | ||||

Most reits drop. Hence, not surprising that this drop as well. Good to get more now as this is rather stable reit. |

if u intend to increase your stake now is a good time while the price is low and the dividends is about to be announced in a couple of weeks. If the price drops you will get more scrip dividends if u opt for it and if the price increase your value of stock increases. I recently bought 200lots and i think my value will increase but it is best to make your own decision based on your financials and experience.

For a good counter, if you have the resources, may consider to collect at lower price. DYDD.

Fundamentally, this is a sound counter. Except that now US interest rate is increasing.  SGX is a exchange where people sell at the slightly reason. No one wants to hold for long term. If sentiment improve, the stock price should increase......... |

Thank you for your reassurance.
In fact I am thinking of going in even more now at this lower price. My ultimate aim is to hold a higher amount of global investment in my portfolio because I am confident of the management. I have been holding Global since those Babcock Brown days.. and over the ten years I have benefitted greatly from it. Just that I don?t know why the price has dropped so drastically if there?s any fundamentals that I am missing.

yes bro the dividend this time is 0.05cents which is lower then previous divideneds but if you have been following global investemnts for a few years you would realise that they have been giving shares inlieu of cash which is always priced below market price. so if you had accumulated the shares the amount of dividends that you have been receiving would roughly be the same year on year except for the bonus years( it is like compounded interest where the interest earns nore interest) . Even then they pay two yearly dividends and it roughly works out to about 8% at currnt rates. If you buy at a lower price the percentage would increase. Thus even with the current price decrease many of the investors are still holding onto the stock as seen by the relatively low trading volume of 3000m shares per trading session. If you are in for investment prupose i think that it would be good to hold but if you are in for speculation i do not know. Money placed in this share has given me better returns than putting money in other financial instruments. I have had no regrest so far and many of my fellow investor friends agree. But to stay or buy more would be at your sole discreation as only you know your holding power and financial needs. tahnks hope it is helpful.

Thank you brchkho1. I tried to open the link but it couldn?t be opened - led to nothing. I will try to look for the relevant info. Thanks for the heads up.
But I also agree with you. I will hold my GIL but despite several analysis saying ?HOLD?, I have a tendency to go in some more. Don?t know whether I am thinking straight or not.

http://infopub.sgx.com/FileOpen/28c_20180510_CurrentAssetReview1Q2018.ashx?App=Announcement& FileID=504898 You may wish to look into this Current Asset Review released by GIL with the Q1 result to assess if the price drop is due to the asset quality affected by the Trade War or just the current fear/uncertainty in market sentiment. I am vested and may accumulated further.

Dear Balasuperman, thank you for your views. I am really hoping that the price will stabilize. Because if it keeps going down it may not be good for all.
The recent announcement of $0.05 dividend is also lesser than its usual. I guess it?s because Global Inv is in a state of uncertainty that is why they are treading very carefully and I appreciate the fact that the STAM management are very prudent. Would you go in some more now at $0.134 at the cheap and grab a huge lot yourself?

Dropped almost 8% in the laat month. Either some unknown facts not shared w shareholders or someone is trying to push the price down. They have indicated a dividend of 0.05 cents to be announced in august n they have settled the case w babcock n brown for 10million dollars n further the nav of the stock is about 19.6 cents so there shld not be any reasonable reason for the price drop. Unless due to their exposure in europe. Anyway i have not sold m waiting cos the company has beem giving good dividends plus w the 10 million in settlement with babcock n brown might even get a bonus dividend.

Hello all the experts here. I bought some Global Investment lots at $0.145 not long ago and now it has tumbled through to $0.134. That?s quite some drop. I read the finance report but I can?t find anything happening, apart from the litigation case with the ex-Babcock Brown.
Can anyone share your thoughts on this down trend? Would anyone of you go in some more? Or would anyone of you hold on and wait it out? Thanks to all for your opinions! |
