When GLP is really doing bad in past 2 quarters, GLP priced in a lot of fair value gain from property and joint venture to show that their EPS and PE are better but in fact, their core business are already affected by china slow down.   earlybird14      ( Date: 21-Jan-2016 11:08) Posted: noble, olam and a lot of counters have taught a lesson what is fair value gain. So, at the end, we still have to look at the actual profit level and cash flow of the companies. so far, in past 6 months cash generated from operation is 170mio compared to 280mio same period last year. So this is the key thing to explain why global properties drop so much since record high especially china slow down. In fact, their actual earning slow down as well. last year paid 190mio for dividend, but they already spend 150mio for share buy back to defend share price drop.  So, by conclusion, let' s assume they can earn 170mio in next half. they can earn 340 mio cash, with this PE is about 25 instead of 10. NAV is around 1.7 USD.  Let' s wait and see how is coming quarter result bah.

I abandoned GLP which is a fast growth company after last quarter result when I saw they burnt off close to 1.5billion cash within 1 quarter from 3+bil to last quarter about 1.6 Bil.  Market will punish them if they continue to burn their cash with this rate.  fast growth and cash flow are always conflict with each other. In a good market, people will buy the ideal of fast growth since financing will not be a problem. but in a bad market, people will start to worry the cash flow problem. GLP has priced in too much fair value gain for their completed assets in last few quarter which made them seem like earning a lot of money.  However, last quarter result is enough to alert everybody about their cash flow in coming tough market.
