Anyway FYI where would anyone sell now? 15 April 2021 which is 6-7 weeks away b4 they submit to SGX to get out of Watchlist which they already told you is their Final Step (i.e 100% get out). Also within the 6-7 weeks there could be a Suprise Catalyst which is Universal Aquaculture who stated on 10 Feb " Watch this space as we will share something Exciting soon" .   1. Analysing the Revenue Streams of Q4 2020 - What does it mean?
Oceanus just had an extremely excellent quarter to sum up 2020, where the group achieived a net profit of S$8.6mil in 2020 from a net loss of S$7.4mil in 2019.

What is significant is their revenue surging 9.5 times from the previous year to S$91.7mil.  This is proof that their business approach of creating 4 different revenue streams is making a HUGE  impact. 

Of the S$91.7mil:
  • Aquaculture: S$4mil (i.e. contract farming and rental revenue)
  • Distribution: S$84.7mil (i.e. distribution in FMCG)
  • Services: S$2.9mil (i.e. marketing, etc.)
The noteworthy point is that 92% of its revenue comes from the distribution segment!  Those who still think Oceanus is an abalone company, please re-read the previous sentence.

It should be noted that the Q4 results were achieved in the midst of a pandemic, where it was the foresight of the management to allow Oceanus to pivot and respond swiftly in a pandemic.  I expect to see even more robust financials post-pandemic and as the supply chain is further developed.

Distribution segment is easiest to scale, as it is not bound by land (farm space) or time (agency advertising efforts).  In Peter Koh' s words, " these highly scalable business segments also create new revenue streams along the aquaculture and FMCG value chain, allowing us to enjoy economies of scale with long-term revenue visiblity." (emphasis mine).

Focusing on food security would also mean further developing the Aquaculture, distribution and innovation segment.  It involves both food production  and  food distribution. 

How can Oceanus achieve this?  It brings me to my next point.
  1. What' s next for Oceanus?
Big institutional money coming into Oceanus, after they exit the SGX watchlist.  But you already know that.

Beyond satisfying the Financial Exit Criteria of SGX watchlist (which is almost a certainty by now), what is next for Oceanus you might ask?  What do shareholders have to look forward to?

Two big, bold, and exciting words: " Tech-Up" .

I cannot emphasise this enough.  The sky (and valuations it seems) is the limit with tech.  The future growth of Oceanus depends significantly on this.

Peter Koh noted recently, " To ' tech-up' our operations for the next lap, Oceanus Group will focus on applying deep tech strategies to supplement our business, thereby creating additional growth for the Group, and enhancing food security in the process" . (emphasis mine).

The next 3 years of Oceanus will depend heavily on whether and how Oceanus can develop and utilise ' deep tech strategies' in their business model.  As an investor and shareholder, this is what I would be focusing on.  I will be looking out for any evidence that Oceanus is exploring and developing in this.  Watch for news releases, research studies, non-executive director additions, strategic purchases or investments, etc.

Summary

At the risk of belabouring the point, the turnaround journey has just started.  We are at the  start  of the " tech-up" phase.  Check Oceanus' s corporation communication material if you don' t believe me.  Visit their Facebook. 

It is perfectly fine to take profits now (as many including myself are in good money), but it is even more exciting to me to be an investor now.  To know that there' s a great company working to grow my money / investment whilst I worry about the other things in my life.

 Alert Admin 		Strongly agreed, I have been accumulating at support levels regardless it went higher or lower . Tested in the past that I failed to buy at lower points a couple of time after selling it, so I rather buy to invest long term like deposit there. This is way better to grow multiple times of my seed money.
