most ppl only take Grab when the discounted fares after vouchers and gifts from the company is about 5 bucks, but recently it is more difficult to get reward points from Grab because it is running out of cash pool. and worst still, the monetary value of those reward points have been reduced - now u need 2500 points for a mere $5 voucher 😂

Conman still believes a money losing ride hailing arm of Grab can beat CDG positive earnings - he needs medicine

You can continue to demonise Grab but the facts remain that Grab and 3 other PH companies are legal, approved and licensed by the Government, and they have culled zoom bee's taxi fleet from 16,000 8 years ago to 8,000 today, and the culling continues.

My prediction is in 5 years, zoom bee will be left with 2,500 taxis (other companies 2,500), and in 10 years, Zoom Bee will have no more taxis. The state-owned SMRT will operate 1,000 taxis with employed drivers to serve the foreign visitors. Taxi fares will probably be 3 times higher then the present.

go take a ride for S$5, u will know why.
now choice, have to enlighten u a bit, since u me in the same nice forum.
open door close door on board fare, b4 complete one or two sentence, already $5.
u har really dun know a single thing and keep shouting,
though u already said u r conman..but still hope u do more work n less con job.
i know u mean good, but please get figure right and do not use too much bias zooombee statement.
morgan look at u also shake head. a disgrace to con communities.

You mean the taxi drivers you have talked to LOVE $5 fares? Good luck to them.

To earn the $90 rental they have to pay to zoom bee, they have to make $90÷$5= 18 trips to achieve, before covering the petrol needed to run that 18 trips.

Supposing the turn-around time is half hour (including queuing, driving the rider, making way back to queue), they will need to drive for 18trips÷2= 9 hours to earn that rental.

Supposing they have to drive for another 3 hours to earn the petrol costs, they need to drive a total of 12 hours a day just to cover their costs. NO PROFITS YET.

Dont ask too much of the grandfather grade taxi uncles. Please dont say $5 fare is good for them.

ComfortDelGro' s shares surge 2.4%
SHARES of ComfortDelGro rose 2.4 per cent to close at S$1.69 on Thursday, after hitting an intra-day high of S$1.71.
 
A total of 21.6 million shares with a value of S$36.7 million changed hands.
 
The stock was reacting positively to the government' s announcement on Wednesday evening that more can return to the workplace.
 
From April 5, the proportion of employees allowed to be at the workplace at any one time will increase from the current 50 per cent, to 75 per cent. The cap on the time an employee spends at the workplace will also be lifted.
 
Events such as marriage solemnisations, wedding receptions and live performances at designated venues can also enjoy higher capacity limits.
 
RHB has ComfortDelgro among its top buy recommendations. RHB expects the group' s Singapore public transport and taxi businesses to support earnings rebound amid normalisation of operations in 2021.
 
Lim & Tan said in a note that with a bigger population base allowed to return to work and also to attend group events, transport operators such as ComfortDelGro and SBS Transit would see better passenger loads going forward.
 
The brokerage also sees retail and office landlords such as CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust benefiting from higher customer traffic.

Anyway, my own survey showed that taxi drivers had a bad day yesterday. None saw any passengers flagging for taxis at the road side. They only place they could get passengers is the taxi stands where they queue long long to get (mostly) the miserable $5 to $6 fares. If your fare is only $5, please, please, pay with cash and tip them a little to keep them going 😭
