Thanks but i didnt do up the graph, it was taken from Singtel' s presentation on their last annual report. Depends on which institutional funds you are talking about, but i think one of the biggest is still their shareholder.

Agree that some of the dead weight management needs to go. Singtel needs an Indian CEO. Moon have shown to be slow and weak to turn Singtel around!

Singtel needs to do a few things. 1) Sell away more Aussie assets to assure investors they have the money to pay good dividends 2) Raise the mobile plan prices by 10%. Bharti did that and the share price zoom from 500+ to 700+ 3) Pare down more overseas assets and use the money to invest in digital banking in Asean. 4) IPO for NCS 5) Lelong sale of junk assets that is losing money. Stop wasting time to nurse them!

Value investors are gonna love this... I pulled out a chart from their last presentation on their FY21 annual report. If we now only consider the increase in price of Bharti Airtel, which was INR 717 (at closing last Friday) compared to the price (INR 535) that the report was based on. There is about a 40% increase in Singtel' s stakeholdings in Bharti Airtel which should translate to an increase of about S$ 6 - 7 Billion. Assuming the valuations of the other associates have not changed, this would mean that the value of Singtel' s equity in their associates would be around S$ 45 Billion, which is more than its current market value of S$ 40.6 Billion. This just shows how grossly undervalued Singtel is... |

Google invests US$700m in Singtel associate Bharti Airtel to boost India push
[MUMBAI] Google will invest US$700 million in India&rsquo s No 2 mobile-phone operator, deepening its push into the world&rsquo s second-largest wireless market.
Alphabet, which owns the Google search engine, will acquire a 1.28 per cent stake in Bharti Airtel at 734 rupees per share, according to an exchange filing from Bharti Friday (Jan 28). An additional US$300 million will be toward multi-year agreements, it said.
Asia&rsquo s third-largest economy and its almost 1.4 billion population present an attractive opportunity for the technology giant, whose Android software competes with Apple for global operating system dominance.
The country is a key growth market for Google&rsquo s search and advertising businesses as well as for others such as Facebook, Amazon.com and Netflix as the only billion-people-plus country that&rsquo s still open to foreign firms.
Google had previously invested in billionaire Mukesh Ambani&rsquo s digital unit.

To clarify, there is no self proclaim guru. That is really putting words in one's mouth. I addressed fatpanda that as my teacher, he did not call himself that. You again called me clown. Yesterday, I merrily invited fatpanda to buy Singtel as I own Singtel shares and read the good news in this forum. How did that make me a clown? No need to be so jumpy. We all have the same objective - Singtel continues to do well, price goes higher, shareholders become happier. |
