Until last week, shares of Best World had been on a multi-year rally, driven by strong growth in China. Revenue is booked when the franchisees in China purchase inventory from Best World. Thr onus is on BW to prove otherwise,  and the market today will give an indication today whether they believe BW or BT. As said, the dust will not settle until the truth is out.

As such, the Audit Committee has decided to voluntarily appoint a reputable independent professional firm (the ?Independent Reviewer?) to independently review and address the relevant issues to provide additional comfort and assurance to shareholders. The Independent Reviewer will report its findings and conclusions to the Audit Committee and Singapore Exchange Regulation (SGX RegCo), which will be published by the Company. The Company will make further announcement(s) on this matter in due course. The above was re-tweaked by BT to sound as if BW accounting and revenue recognition have problems. Independent reviewer will be voluntarily appointed to ALLAY concerns but BT crafted it to sound as if there is something fishy. BT is really not happy with BW. Is BT journalist a lady that also clashes with BW two lady bosses? Anyone knows? nqing87      ( Date: 24-Feb-2019 22:29) Posted: i think this saga actually help us to pressure BW to give a detail on their business model and info.. otherwise normal small retailer will not be able to have the influence to squeeze out such info from BW.. i had emailed to tonnes of IR to many companies before to get info, but normally they will refuse to answer citing confidentiality, and some questions actually end up being the same questions that are eventually queried by sgx, which they eventually pressured to answer.. so we actually need some organisation that has the big influence to dig out any can of worms if there are any.. i see the BT report as being objective and neutral, and it does bring out the concern on the sales figures since everyone doesnt know too much in detail on how the franchise is run.. prior to BW rebutt, i dont think anyone will be able to answer BT query & concerns.. so i actually dont mind BT trying to help us dig out more info & pressure companies to be more transparent, not only on BW but every other company..  Shifu8888      ( Date: 24-Feb-2019 20:44) Posted: Interesting.... In other words, any sane investor should know you are paying 26 years of probably peak earnings and almost 10 times of its total assets. I' m also not impressed by the scope and quality of their products compared to other DS or retail cosmetic companies who spend heavily on advertising and brand-building. Not surprised shortsellers target BWS as it is time to face reality. You just need a trigger to scare off these bubble blowers, maybe the BT article just did it. China is just a bigger bubble compared to indonesia and Philippines. Those still holding better wake up...
