Singtel shares will never rise spectacularly ... yet the annual dividends are predictablly generous....as in the last ten years. Because Singtel stock is not for speculators. Singtel has to be affordable for the working class of Singapoareans to own through using CPF savings. Singtel is good for our retirees - its a safe investment. If Singtel ever becomes bankrupt - it means Singapore economy is kaput. Bankrupt. It' s only occasionally that Singtel cannot pay high dividends - like because of covid induced global rescession |

Those "shortists" could have just sabotage the dividends by this friday...if it was still at 2.88 or heading towards $3 thereabouts the dividends might have been 0.1, now getting somewhere close to 0.06 or 0.07 will be lucky enough. Praying that at least a 0.075 payout considering it's dropping like flies | ||||

Agree with you, FATABA.. Singtel s share price was $3.50 three yrs ago. No good reason why it shd be trading at $2.68 today

Result on 27th yet it is slowing heading south / does this tell about coming result ....hope they dont cut dividend again . Again this mgt need BIG major change ....dont see any good restructuring or actions so fat new CEO on board ....share price still below $3 really HOPE singtel can get a world class CEO who can change this into a true Global telcom giant . not a sleepy one like now Dyodd |

Good points. Fundamentally Singtel is a good company. Regardless of how Singtel performs in the short term, i intend to buy and hold Singtel until it hits my target

It has nothing to do with shortists imo, is just that nobody or singtel itself cannot convince investors to stay as longists. Honestly Singtel should be close to the banks in terms of performance if not as well. They made billions all over the world. People know that it's a sure bang for the bucks, which comes back to the point of they just don't have the way to convince people to stay for the long haul. Even with the digital bank licensing it went down, it's very strange to see something like this happening | ||||

Normally a stock should be going up just before the dividends are announced. But it has fallen over 20 cents and doesn't look like recovering even after 2 weeks while others are going up. I don't see how this is working well at all unless people can be convinced that they are worth it again. Had it stayed and level out at 2.80 then it will still be safe but it is not recovering at a which is strange | ||||

Globe also reported stellar results. Look out for Singtel results next Friday. Want to see NCS progress. GXS rumoured to launch in Aug.

To be fair speculators are also good for the financial businesses,  imagine if everyone buy one time and sell one time as long term player like Warren Buffett, brokerage firm mostly go bust, turnover low, fianancial market will be illiquid, next time no company want to list in any stock exchanges liao, wakakakakaka
