Good observation.  Singtel' s businesses are picking up.  For the next two yrs, Singtel shd do well.  Profits and dividends shd rise,  So will Singtel' s price. $2.68 will appear cheap then.  Just like when KC was $4 not too long agoa

For the same period, interim dividend at 0.48 cts actually doubles from 0.24 cts in 2021.

If we expect Singtel' s NPAT to grow significantly (as Moon is indicating), we can expect dividend to grow correspondingly and for share price to catch up.  The strongest NPAT growth drivers in the short term are post-COVID travel recovery, Airtel ops, Optus ops and divestment of assets for capital recycling. The NPAT growth drivers in the medium term are NCS, GXS, 5G use cases and regional data centres.

That's true, that's why better than nothing lo... hopefully next year have at least 10 to 15 cents of dividends .. 9.3 cents is a bit low considering the fact that business have rosed a lot since FY2021 | ||||

Singtel up as much as 4.5% on rumoured Bharti Airtel stake sale
SHARES of Singtel : Z74 +3.41% made steady gains on Thursday (May 26) after the Economic Times reported it initiated talks with Bharti Airtel chairman Sunil Mittal, to potentially sell a &ldquo small&rdquo part of its holding in the Indian telco to the Mittal family.

As at 1.44 pm on Thursday, Singtel shares rose to an intra-day high of S$2.76, up S$0.12 or 4.5 per cent with some 27.9 million shares traded. The counter closed 3.4 per cent or S$0.09 higher at S$2.73.

Two married deals were recorded, according to ShareInvestor data. One was transacted at S$2.665 apiece in early trade at 9.16am, while the other took place at 2.23pm at S$2.725 per share.

Both Singtel and the Mittal family are shareholders in Bharti Telecom, as well as own direct shares directly in Bharti Airtel. Bharti Telecom is the promoter company of Bharti Airtel and a joint venture between Singtel and Mittal&rsquo s Bharti Group.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the Economic Times on May 26 said the transaction could be worth about US$1-2 billion through a mix of both Bharti Telecom and Bharti Airtel shares - although the quantum and details of the transaction have yet to be worked out.

Selling US$1 billion of Bharti Airtel shares is estimated by the Indian daily to reduce Singtel&rsquo s holding by close to 2 per cent, to less than 30 per cent, while divesting shares worth US$2 billion would reduce Singtel&rsquo s holding by 4 per cent.

Singtel is expected to announce its financial results for H2 and FY2022 on Friday before the start of trading.

MEDIA STATEMENT We draw your attention to a Business Times report dated 26th May (&ldquo Hot Stock: Singtel up as much as 4.5% on rumoured Bharti Airtel sale.&rdquo ) The Business Times references the Economic Times of India also dated 26th May (&ldquo Singtel set to dial Sunil Mittal to sell part stake in Bharti Airtel&rdquo ) where it cites unnamed sources saying that the Singtel Group intends to sell a stake in Bharti Airtel worth up to US$2 billion to Bharti Telecom. We would like to make patently clear that we have been strategic investors in Airtel for decades and it remains a core investment in our international portfolio. As for the media hearsay, we do not comment on market speculation and abide by market disclosure rules pertaining to material transactions. As per our current strategic reset which we shared with the market last May, one of our focus areas is to narrow the significant valuation gap which Singtel shares suffer from as it does not reflect the value of the holdings in our associates. We have taken proactive steps to illuminate the value of our portfolio of strategic investments to deliver attractive returns for our shareholders. Some examples include the divestment of the Group&rsquo s 70% stake in ATN which owns Optus Towers working with Gulf in Thailand to enhance value in our regional associate AIS and a partial divestment of 1.6% in Airtel Africa via a market placement to raise S$150 million as part of our capital recycling strategy. Issued by Singapore Telecommunications Limited on 27 May 2022. What is next > > ?? |
