A weaker USD may hurt earnings.     The downside is that the Company has recorded negative gross margins for past qtrs and only made $1.4mln as pointed out, in 1Q17.   It seems the costs are quite high and business is barely sustainable, equity is dropping every year due to accumulated losses.  Gearing is also a mite high, and it' s having a weak working capital position. The chart swings is due to sentiment, the Company is weak in fundamentals, short term trading is fine.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Your view is respected. However, I have just quick browsed thru the financial statements for the 1st Quarter reported in SGX. Based on the announcement for the 3 months ended 31st May 2017. The revenues from sales of crude oil and gas were only approximately 31million and gross profit was approximately 1.4millon only. Without net fair value gain on their financial instruments of which I think is not substantial to Keppel. Perhaps behind there is other reason that I don' t know for possible takeover. Keppel CEO is more interested for the golden egg property division rather than marine sector that loss money. The take over of Kris Energy is unlikely.

And if O&G is a long term business, which it shld be a long term business,, and withs Energy now only at 15cts instead of the previous $1.00, wouldn't you wan to takeover now at such steep discounts or wait till next time?
