x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	I think in a contrary way, when I first heard of the reconstructuring news. I took it as positive, believing the CEO was representing the shareholders and working for the best deal of the company. As more and more dramas unfolded, I turned to be negative. assuming the media division loses 11-15 mil every year (benchmarked with 11.4m loss in 2020), 250m-350m cash and assets to be given to the SPH media can support the division for 20 years or more. Who knows SPH media won' t  " 咸 鱼 翻 身 &ldquo in 20 years, considering that SPH has digitized many of her media services?  If losing more, can thrink the divison more to reduce cost. Besides, if the media division is gone, SPH' s other business, for example, exhibition services,  will be definitely negatively affected and SPH will turn to a property company, as many called, losing its advantage in the competitive market. So, SPH cannot lose the media divison unless there is sufficient compensation.  each do one' s own math. what other people said or the CEO said, is all useless. remember what Oliva Lum of Hyflux said before? did she kept any of her words?   investshare      ( Date: 10-May-2021 07:43) Posted: Guys, put aside emotion, I think through this deal: 1. SPH media business is not a business or asset that it can dispose off as the rule is it cannot have substantial shareholders. This is fact since day 1. 2. Due to (1), this business is only meaningful to sph and shareholders if it generate profit and cash flow. 3. Due to 1 and 2, when it does not make money, Sph only have 2 choices, (a) part with it peacefully to an entity without substantial shareholders like what they propose now, (b) liquidate it and recover whatever remaining value. 4. I am initially favor for 3.b, to liquidate it. But after reading many comments against government support even for current deal, I realise that sph has moral obligation not to do so, as it has enjoyed monopoly for so long. 5. As such I would now support this deal. 6. The real problem here is (2), sph media should not appear on SPH asset in the first place. Welcome your input.
