The highly anticipated NPL ratio is 0.9% - unchanged from previous qtr. Also, NIM increased 7 bisis pts to 1.74% (UOB' s was a whisker lower - 6 basis pts up, but overall at 1.77% it is slightly higher than OCBC' s).

Golden rule is to keep cash and wait for the big panic rush when STI crash down to 2k, LHL is right to say this time not so severe compared to 2008, STI lowest in 2008 is 1500 so putting 2000 is reasonable. This time recession real caused by oil crash and china slowdown, no magic to save stock market, all option exhausted time to just let nature take it course, survival of the fittest cannot save everyone |

each crisis is different so bottom px will b different too...last crisis was LB so bank was vry badly hit...just take as a guide only wth no guranttee hit tat low again...buy in batches so gt some $$ reserve to ave down...

Why cant compare apple past and now? Imagine if ocbc revisits past low huat liao. Mkts are irrational. So if ocbc reaches past lows definitely can buy as now fundamentals are stronger. Key is to wait for mkt to be irrational then will be great opportunity for us to whack big. Sure win big. Keep cash and wait lor. No harm just to wait. $4 buy 10,000 ocbc shares only $40k. Imagine now $40k cant even get 7000 shares. 10,000 ocbc shares generate lots of dividends. Just wait lar. Gan cheong spider cant eat anything | ||||

it is not apple to apple comparison to compare with OCBC past low ... 1. At that time WH was not taken over. 2. OCBC was not a true regional bank as of now with good share into CHINA... 3. Its wealth management division is not as establish as it is now to capitalise on its larger base of customers. 4. There must be still some assets of OCBC which are not evaluated to date yet. So DYODD and awaiting its result and dividend tomorrow. |
