Checking historical price chart for last 5 years, there seem to be a pattern of sia going under 10 for 3 to 6 weeks then later rebound to the 11 range. The rebound had been repeated for the third time since 2013 regardless of sia performance at different period with aug to oct highest probability . The sub 10 range ongoing for 3 weeks now, might see rebound soon as we countdown to christmas. This is all bb positioning portfolio regardless of performance when the scheduled sell plan come SIA would drop like a fly even with good result. Wait for technical rebound later next week as nov coming to close. Nov dramatic Trump surprise win against all odds and no market bloodbath but a decouple of us market from everyone. Everyone lose this months as all preditions wrong, longist and shortist all got burnt. |

Better still if break, SoA would be coming. Giving SIA solid cash holding and tons of side business it had. The whole group had to be break up to be even considered for delist. Subsi company sia eng worth whopping 4b market value, 77% stake give it a nice 3b divestment gain. Combined with existing 3b plus cash hold, u see one of the fattest cash cow in sgx with 6b plus cash. Every dollar invested it had a 60% cash value plus all the assets and stuff. Hope government break up this cash cow and returns value back to long term investors. With Nol, tigerair, smrt all gone, it would be sia turn soon. By the way dbs chairman takeover sia chairman from next year, changes are coming. Banker at helm of airline sia, this smell too much of SOA. |

Oct operational result out, mild decline in load factor 1.5% decline. Guess   SIA sticking to low single digit decline 1 to 2 % group wide. Scoot reported a bigger drop in load 10% due to massive 60% surge in capacity, guess sia gona go full throttle in budget sector while maintain premium . |

This implied airlines might finally making a comeback since rising a lot 2 years ago and fall to attractive entry level. Warren buffet don trade but invest for value. SIA full value might be realised once it divest off non core business and focus on passenger business. Changes in management implied changes coming, SIA need to be leaner and focus resource to where the profit is. Expect sia eng to be spinned off and capital reduction exercise . |

Might see SIA privatisation sooner after trump projected protectism policy toward trade that would reduce air travelling, american would be more inward while china open up. |

All this point to SOA of SIA, operating environment tough difficult to maintain investor dividend payout, time to go private then they can use saving from dividend to improve service quality. Just need to divest sia eng then soa would c9me aka nol divest apl log then sold to cma it all plannes by mr kwan our transport minister. SMRT also go private when they divest away assets. Transport assets time to go private in this low growth environment, sia need to offer better service to justify higher premium fare. Biggest delist might be coming soon, enjoy.

Potential cut dividend?
Debt threat: SIA could scrounge up money to fund capex Cashflow could only cover less than half of its $17b commitments. Singapore Airlines (SIA) braces for more challenges ahead amidst gloomy global environment, but the biggest is one of liquidity, said UOB KayHian. "SIA has S$17b of capex commitments over the next four years. This will mandate debt funding or increased sale-and-leasebacks, given the tight widebodied aircraft resale market,"it said. The research house estimates that operating cash flow will fund less than 50% of capex over the next three years and it expects SIA to go from net cash into net debt position. The estimated amount excludes future investment in some of its airline associates. "The resale market for wide-bodied aircraft is practically tight and thus SIA would either have to take on more debt to fund its capex or opt for higher sale and leasebacks. The latter would however affect profitability," it said. UOBKayHian assumed that SIA will require S$2.8b and S$2.1b of debt funding in FY18 and FY19 respectively. It has also reduced its dividend payout assumptions to 50% (including special dividend from disposal) and lower total dividend by 8% to 25 S cents. "Under such a scenario, we question the need for aggressive share purchases,"it said. |
