The bottom for shipping is reached only when big inefficient shipping entities worldwide goes bellyup. Long term trade recovery will be based on FTAs agreements reached world wide boosting global trade post crisis. I can be wrong but its very obvious given the rate of cashflow loss , the dire over supply capacity , existence of much stronger competition and the incredible mountain of debt which will only get worse when interest rate rise inevitably in the next 5 years. Which means this business is not sustainable in current form due to the high cost of assets locked in when the former CEO made that fateful decision to buy a entire new fleet at peak ship prices and subsequently quit. Shipping capacity glut is an external uncontrollable event and the natural laws of market forces will bankrupt inefficient player with high debt and poor cashflows. If Apl (the only cashcow with bright prospects is sold ), the door is open for removing TH support and remaining company is ripe to rot away. Not much value can be salvaged in the event of liquidation since remanding assets can only be sold at distressed prices and the current debt load is significantly higher than what market prices can fetch for those assets. Who will want to buy NOL old ships(by then) when new and even better ship cost less to built in a crisis when commodities and labour cost is so cheap. There will finally be a time of reckoning of true asset values, banks and senior holders of debt and bonds will be partially compensated but ordinary share holders will be wiped out. Privately run shipping lines can then finally have a chance to grow the shipping business organically and built a world class shipping line. Mr Teo ss is ripe to reap the rewards and will be immortalized as one of the local wealthy magnates rising on the post financial crisis global shipping recovery.

Instead of shale oil production put a stop, offshore deep water drilling has stopped first. 2mio is required to cut, with low oil price consumption will be increased. Since u predict 3 years NOL wil be back to 1.06. I also predict oil price will spike and break 141 per barrel in 3 years time, just because us economic peak at 3 years time and production can't catch up after this round of price drop. Actualized 18 Feb -            NOL closed@ $1.02, with    a height of  $1.065.  (Prediction Price in 2014 when you are mocking)  FairPerson      ( Date: 15-Dec-2014 10:36) Posted: Would like to share some of my views on making decisions and predictions of share prices: On 01 Dec 14, NOL closed at 84 cents.  A prediction was posted predicting that NOL will close at 87 cents/higher on 12 Dec 14. On 10 Dec 14, the predicted closing price for 12 Dec 14 was revised to 85.5 cents/higher. On 12 Dec 14, NOL closed at 83 cents.  Thus, both predictions are totally wrong, even the direction of share price is also wrong. There are 5 main points which I will like to point out: (1)    Do not make decision/prediction via emotion: Those who have been reading MIDAS thread will probably think that the prediction was made via emotion especially it was posted on 01 Dec 14.  Whether the prediction was made via emotion, the person who made the prediction knows the answer better than anyone else.  Anyway, it is not important, the important point I want to make is, do not make decision/prediction via emotion as if you are emotionally agitated, your thinking will be affected and there is a very high chance that you make a wrong decision/prediction. (2)    Learn to admit mistake made and (3) do not try to correct a mistake that cannot be corrected.                  On 10 Dec 14, when NOL share price closed at 83.5 cents, any experience traders will know that it is unlikely that share price will go up in the next two trading days.  Thus, instead of revising the predicted closing price on 12 Dec 14 from 87 cents/higher to 85.5 cents/higher, a highly professional person will just admit that it was a mistake to make the prediction that NOL will close at 87 cents/higher on 12 Dec 14 and then make an independent prediction (which might contradict the current uptrend prediction).  Usually a person finds it embarrassing to admit his mistake (not to talk about making a prediction contradicting to the current prediction), but by admitting a mistake will help you to make a better decision on what to do next.  By trying to correct a mistake that cannot be corrected will make you lose more (reputation/money).  I guess only a true professional can understand this point and acted in this way.  (4)  Understand your own ability well. Knowing your own ability is important.  Some people like to make trivial price predictions (e.g. predicting share price 1.5 cents to 2 cents up/down when there is a clear event ahead like expecting good/bad quarterly financial results etc) and claimed that they are price predictors (and showed no respect to others) without knowing their true capability.  Quite often these people true capability of predicting prices are fully exposed when they attempt to predict share price without a clear event ahead.  What I want to say is, knowing your true ability is important otherwise, you might lose big (both money and reputation). (5)  The sentence: " Many has attempted, none had succeed." If a person has made mistakes mentioned in (1) to (4), he definitely cannot consider himself as a true professional.  Finally, I would like to encourage all the readers in this forum to work hard by changing the sentence " many had attempted, none had succeeded" to the following two sentences: Many had attempted, we have succeeded. Many had attempted, FairPerson has succeeded. I guess with these two sentences, we can say, we have won big, FairPerson has won big.  I believe all readers in the forum knew exactly what I meant.
