DBS Group&rsquo s D05 0.75% digital banking service disruption last week was but a &ldquo transitory dampener&rdquo , say RHB Bank Singapore&rsquo s analysts. Nevertheless, the glitch has hurt DBS&rsquo s reputation as a leading digital and technology bank and warnings of supervisory action would likely keep its share price range-bound in the near term, they add. As a result, RHB analysts have cut DBS&rsquo s target price to $39.80 from $42 in an April 3 note, while keeping &ldquo buy&rdquo on Singapore&rsquo s largest bank. The new target price represents a 21% upside against a last traded price of $33. Good luck and keep dreaming, I have a different dream, " drop back to $30 ( something bad in the world would happen, maybe somewhere a big stock market crashes and affects investment sentiments ) and then climb back to > =$35" .

I too agree w your input.....honestly I dont think the wait for DBS to cross $10B profit will be v long. Whatever at 6% yield or more ....it is worth waiting ...haha might even come earlier then expected Dyodd

Agree with FATABA. CEO also mentioned this during AGM. Although not much relatively, still it' s a gain of few 100 m for DBS. CEO also shown slides comparing EPS, PB, etc, with peers around the world. DBS already among top 10 to 20 in these aspects. Hence, we can say its current share price is no longer cheap. Or we can say it' s at fair value. Nevertheless, DBS is still growing. In fact, growing exponentially. Significant contribution is expected from India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, going forward. Not forgetting Indonesia, with many branches, is also doing very well. They are trying to replica Indonesia model in India (opening more branches - to capture the highest contributor in profit - consumer banking revenue). Just couple of years back, their profit was still somewhere between $4 - $5 Bn. Last year, it was $8.2 Bn. They expecting maybe $10 Bn this year. Those who buy now is buying into their future. Collect dividend (above 6% yield) while we wait. I do not see anything wrong with this strategy. Lastly, I did not say other contributors in this thread holding different views are wrong. To each, his own. No right, no wrong. |

From your EPS prespective , it might look exp ....however If Asia and esp Asian is the growth area, then DBS definately stand out as the best bank to go . In USA banking turnoil is a blessing as our big 3 can be a safe heaven for many funds ....a sold good stable bank w OVER 5% yield . further, 2023/24 might be another merger target for DBS ...which DO have the cash to do it / integration and full contribution from LV bank in India is still on going . Time will tell . Dyodd

Interesting, $42 ? Just a quick look from P/E standpoint. 42 / 3.49 (dec EPS ) = 12. Expensive ? Given the geopolitical risks and lingering USA banking turmoil, how many dare to buy at 42$ except the big boys ? Of course, those holding from $22-25 most happy investors. |
