Until SGX remembers to help the Singapore retail investor to realise Shareholder value and growth and not just its own interests - I'm not too impressed with it.

With more privatization, SGX might as well closed shop. As it is, it has regressed to a backwater market place, instead of a leading exchange with a higher capitalization than HKSE as envisioned in the past decade. Another evidence that SG is not as attractive as a world economic centre as we propagate ourself to be.

Mid east airlines heavily subsidised by saudi arabia and oil producing countries as they try to reform economy, to compete with them SIA need to go private and used saving from dividend   to improve service and lower fares. NOL, SMRT go down private as existing economy environment not ideal for staying listed for transportation companies. Spin off SIA eng and SoA SIA best route for investors and Singapore , lot of delist coming in 2017, all the house brands going out |

SIA has overpriced itself and has too high overheads and salaries. Lost a lot of goodwill and loyalty amongst Singaporean mass market after pandering to business class and foreign Travellers. Can't compete against the well funded Mid East airlines. Will suffer in a recessionary climate especially if oil prices climb from here.

If u can afford, u can buy some to average down.   At 9.6x, i still think it is a good entry price and will eventually go up beyond 10. Currently bank' s FD is very miserable.. better to hold SIA for divendends than transferring fund to FD. At least, for sure, this stock will not   go chapter   7-11.

Not that it matters but good to know............. NOV 19, 20165:50 AM Singapore Airlines > Hold OCBC Investment Research,Nov 18 Target price: S$10.22 Nov 18 close: S$9.71   SIA' s Oct 2016 operating results saw passenger capacity (available seat kilometres) growth outpace passenger traffic (revenue passenger kilometres) growth across all its passenger airlines. As a result, overall passenger load factor (PLF) for Oct 2016 fell 2.1 percentage points year-on-year to 76.7 per cent. Parent airline' s PLF fell 1.6 percentage points to 77.4 per cent as capacity reduction could not match up to the pace of fall in demand. On a separate note, SIA also recently announced further expansion of its partnership with Lufthansa Group by adding new codeshare destinations, in a bid to improve connectivity across both airlines and compete against the aggressive Gulf and Chinese carriers. That said, we believe this joint venture may help mitigate but is unlikely to overcome the challenges SIA is currently facing. We expect the weak yields environment to persist on overcapacity and aggressive expansion by the Chinese carriers amid tepid economic growth conditions. Keeping our forecasts unchanged, we maintain our " Hold" rating with an unchanged S$10.22 fair value. |

Check on historical stock announcement, buyback always occur shortly after results. Just hang on to collect your 4% yearly dividend yield plus potential for special dividend when sia eng eventually sold off and delist by third party. Now not much on share movement as sia decouple from sgx, it highly dependent on share buyback to recover to book value. Don load as dow joes rally on glass hope trump might not act on election campaign, 10 to 15% correction might be in view if he did not back. |

My breakeven price is higher than $10.77 mentioned earlier. I am monitoring the price movement and I would cut loss if I have no choice. On the other hand, I am also prepared to hold it longer to get dividends as interest income. Looking at the chart of past years' prices, there had been many drops but also recoveries. I think it doesn't seem that bad for holding a blue chip stock with having Temasek and banks as SIA's shareholders as compared to holding a penny stock or an oil & gas related stock for the next two years. Just my two cents. Kindly DYODD.

Have not seen it go below 9 for past 10 years the only exception is 2008, it is artificially supported by share buyback once it kick in dec as norm. This stock is so typical of public service stock, ah gong die die support it, worse case they just soa it since they already bail out nol, smrt, throw in 1 more sia i not surprised. Long term investors entry point is higher than 10, they pop back in dec. |

Stay cool, if sia divest off sia eng every long term investors get payday regardless of entry point. 10.77 is not that far off consider sia only start to drop 7% mid oct. Wait for dec that month positive for sia, if no major hiccup happen on jan, it also good month. Best months is apr to may period sia alway peak aroun there. |

Don' t panic just hold it like someone said the dividend is better than a banks deposit. Things should start picking up mid Dec.......just my humble opinion. !0.77 is a gd price to start accumulating. If i was not travelling then i would have bought at that price.
