with the approved oil cut, fuel price expected to rise, with higher fuel cost and slow economy worldwide, SIA will struggle with their profit outlook. Direct flight to SFO will be losing $$ flight as they are selling tickets at a loss just to capture market share. |

2 mil done at 10 bucks before market close, most likely short covering. Stock might trend toward 1x book value as us economy power on and trump presidency draw closer. Might hit historical high 1.1x   early 2017 on stimulus package from us. Again it would not go beyond that as airlines stuck in low growth global economic  |

It more of bb playing blue chips up and down, sold down to force weak players to give up and buy up to attract more preys. Dec tourism strong and again bb gona play to tune and here go roller coaster, siaec delist soon within 6 months from now then maybe sia soa or big fat special dividend from capital reduction post siaec divestment. Can go no wrong on sia, undervalue big blue with insane cash holding. Cross finger and monitor siaec for more privatisation signs... |

Yes, thx for ur alert.  Now that u' ve mentioned, I am  also thinking, it might be that way.  That' s how mkts work.  Decoupled from reality lots of the time, n lots of knee jerk reactions too.  But, like u said, the forward Dec data shd provide a more fundamental basis for px movement.  In the meantime, shd SIA punchet a bit over the next few days, I might take a small gamble.

Yup kiasuism is the name of the game. I bought singtel yesterday and sold off today. Bought some SQ too but i won' t be holding this for too long either.   Don' t want to hold any stock for too long. As the saying goes .......Got money to take just take....... this will is my motto this coming months. Macro factors don' t look good at all. All the best bro and thanks for sharing.

Tough call, brother.  Although I thought the recent  result wasn' t  too bad, it' s,  like u said,  the forward signals that cld be significant.  Let' s   see how the holiday season pans out for SIA then.  Oil is cheap now.  To me, though, the irony seems to be that while it cld be encouraging for air travel, I think some airlines, especially the low-cost ones, are probably taking it as an opportunity to create even more brutal competition.  So, like I said, if other premium carriers are able to ride it, SIA will  have to be really nimble to prove that it can continue to make a difference.  No doubt,  it is responding to the very difficult environment.  But more than that, hopefully, it is  proactively working towards re-modelling itself to remain in the forefront of the competition too.  I mentioned NOL cos,  to my  mind, NOL probably were not sufficiently proactive vis-a-vis other global players in  confronting to shipping tsunami.  For SIA though, still so good, I' d think.  Let' s hope I am  not  wrong.    N I wld probably be sticking my neck  out  for, say,  < 9.60.  I know I keep shifting my goal posts.  But  in this mkt, I think kiasuism might turn out to be more rewarding.  Cheers.

This is not a song, it observation made from delisting trend these few years and sg gov change of gear plus new transport minister past reform record. Kwan gona reform sg transport system from sea to air, sea and land basically settled now is tricky air transport as it employed the most people. U don go against market trend but watching out which would be likely tgt for delist. For now temasek linked companies highest chance to be delist as current valuation cheap and retail investor partication rate high. Successful delist on nol, togerair and smrt would prompt more to follow. Common sense do SIA nè ed to be listed as it brand well known and no need for it to raise cash in sgx through rights or new shares, it can get easy credit and bond offering. Better off delist and use the money to improve service and if possible lower fare. |

SIA has lost lot of market share due to the fact they have lost both in lower and higher end customers. Other well run airlines are offering cheaper tickets for economy and are offering more goodies like shofer driven pick up and drop in addition to all other services being same or even better in airlines like Qatar, Emirates etc. More over SIA charges more for Singaporeans than others! All these will definately pull down their market share. |

This year and 2017 perfect setting for delisting temasek linked companies, valuation are cheap and minority investors eager to get out. Once in decade opportunity to take back control at fair value, enjoy the show and sit tight.  |

SIA fare need to go down more to gain market share, easy way is to go private more resource go into improving service rather than dividend for shareholders. Transport counters going private the trend now with sg gov backing it, waiting for the signal from siaec. Once siaec delist offer come either through sia privatisation   or third party buy out, SoA SIA not far. |

So SIA has the following advantages:
1. No protest and strike 2. No volcano ash that disrupt flight 3. No terrorist 4. No unruly passenger like those in PRC 5. Almost secured business from Singapore Inc (I believe all Temasek and GIC linked companies biz travel use SIA) |
