Poor return on equity as global economy slow for a very long time, basically ur investment in 5 years return next to nothing as stock prics tank 15% to counter total dividend received in 5 year span. Big investors like banks not too happy about it when SIA go into growth mode in low growth environment. Stock got sold off to pressure management to maintain yield, sooner or later something got to give in. Temasek might take this golden opportunity once and for all take back transportation companies from market at great discount. Nol, smrt our sea and land transport all taken back or sold off, sg gov reforming transportation. Sia phane start to had minor problem due to cut in maint to maintain yield, before any plane drop from sky best temasek take back sia and enforce proper maint schedule. SMRT got screwed up by commercial interest and therefore take back, sia next |

Yup . I dont see any need or pros to delist SIA.
What SIA should consider is to venture into hotels ownership, globally. Create a new brandname, say Xgurvi group of 4, 5 stars hotels. Xgurvi London, Xgurvi Tokyo, Xgurvi Sydney, Xgurvi Hong Kong.....Xgurvi Paris ....worldwide lah hah as long as it flies there It will defnitely help SIA. Trust my acumen.

Given the current economical and geopolitical uncertainty investors are worried over SIA yields. Do note that SIA has developed a rather nimble strategy, not only does she has budget carriers under her belt she also developed a multi-hub strategy to conquer growing markets in india and thailand through her partially owned  vistara airlines and nokscoot respectively. The government has always wanted to make this small city known and they feel that it is important to have a local brand where all singaporeans can be proud of. What brands come to mind when you think of singapore? i bet SIA top the list for most singaporeans. P.S the government is very supportive of their own public companies. Have you notice local national service men having the privillege to fly SIA for their yearly overseas military excercise? public fianance and oil companies sending their managers abroad via SIA? in local terms - " right pocket go left pocket" . The idea that SIA will or should be delisted is therefore immautre and irrationale. |

It depend on ur holding power, this one long term investment. Buyers all dried up and bb maintaining min trade volume till sia ops result improve, mine advice is wait till trump speech on 20 jan then made ur decision. For those long term investors, this one might go the privatisation as NOL and SMRT did, 1x book value offer   max as low growth economy equal low valuation. And if it happen most likely it is a go as CPF investors and banks bail out. There might be a surprise value unlocking if privatisation happen, sia eng stake unlocking |

So a wise move would be to accumulate while its ' cheap' until the privatisation catalyst kicks in but the wait and/or unknown can be the killers.   |

Investing for long term, this one too unpredictable to trade. It would maintain min 2.5% yield regardless of result, similar to cpf and since price alway rangebound 0.85 to 1.0x book value for last 5 years, just don buy at 12 and above. The big pay day come when sia divest off it non core business, or when temasek decided to take it private. Chance of privatisation high as ROE for last 5 years lower than 5 year bonds on current share price drop vesu all the dividend received last 5 years. Same reason why smrt got privatised as it cannot maintain dividend payout as more cash need to pour into capex to improve reliability and service. Sia capex for 2018 till 2022 would shoot to 5b yearly from current 3.5b, yield cannot be maintained. Transport companies all become not for profit business model, sia last and biggest one left to go.  |

Vested but sia trading pattern is very hectic for trading, it go south when everyone up and soar when less expected catching lot of shortist naked. Reason i strongly believed sia should be delisted as staying listed serve no purpose as it don need to raise cash and it brand name already well established. Going privatisation would unlock value for all investors and money used for dividend could be used for capex. In short sia don behaved like a blue chip, it power play between big players. 55% controlled by temasek and 30% by bank, share price used as leverage by banks to cap sia managament aggressive growth under temasek directive. Everytime sia go aggressive on growth, banks sold down to show their displeasure pressurising management to relook profit margin. |

Iran mostly likely buy second hand as country too poor to afford brand new one, as long plane can fly ok. Explain why lot of incidents in middle east airline, they just luv second hand lol. After dismal 2q result, sia might be motivated to boost 3q result through 1 off gain. Everytime they used this trick to cover bad management, tried and tested work everytime to revive share price. |
