• SGX will establish three independent committees: the Listings Advisory Committee, the Listings Disciplinary Committee and the Listings Appeals Committee. These will further strengthen SGX' s listings process, improve transparency of its disciplinary process and enhance SGX' s ability to enforce listing rules.
• A requirement that securities intermediaries collect a minimum five per cent of collateral from their customers for trading of listed securities to promote financial prudence.
• Aggregate short position reporting to further enhance transparency of short selling activities in the securities market.

Countries with highest proportion of millionaires

Global private financial wealth rose by 14.6 per cent last year to US$152 trillion, partly due to rebounding stock markets, according to a report released by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) on Monday.

In total, the number of millionaire households around the world increased by 2.6 million to 16.3 million.

According to BCG, the growth of private wealth accelerated across most regions in 2013, with the Asia-Pacific region excluding Japan, representing the fastest-growing region worldwide.

The findings were released as part of a report called, &ldquo Riding a Wave of Growth: Global Wealth 2014&rdquo , which also said that the Asia-Pacific region excluding Japan will top Europe in private wealth.

&ldquo As the debate over the global polarisation of wealth rages on, one thing is certain: more people are becoming wealthy,&rdquo it said. BCG listed the top countries with millionaire households based on number and the proportion to total population.
