have seen other business selling their buildings and lease back. these lease back will apprear together with long term debt as liability. it certainly create a lot fear in investors when the liability numbers are big.  if the asset sale are used to pay off loan then it is neutral. else the liability will grow. the so called right of used appearing in asset are quite often ignore as people will think is it an asset? really? can it be sold?  but certainly the liabilities has to be paid. |

Sale and lease back. Google it and you will see accounting treatment like right of use asset park under non-current asset. Doesnt reduce assets, corresponding lease liability will be taken up as well. If got extra cash from the disposal, that means its a gain! Whether capital gain or not, trade badges will be taken into consideration.

If there is borrowing on the tower assets it will remove the associated debts from the balance sheet and improve the company' s debt to euity ratio. And moreover, rental expenses are tax deductible.

MANILA -- Globe Telecom, the Philippines' mobile leader, said on Friday it will sell 5,709 cellular towers for 71 billion pesos ($1.28 billion), as telecom companies in the country build up their war chests for expansion and competition between them intensifies.
Globe will sell 3,529 towers to Frontier Tower Associates Philippines, a unit of KKR-backed Pinnacle Towers. A further 2,180 will be sold to a joint venture between a unit of Manila Electric and U.S. fund Stonepeak, Globe said. Globe will lease back the towers for at least 15 years, the company said, adding that it estimates a pretax gain of 25.6 billion pesos from the twin deals, which are expected to be closed this quarter. Globe also said it is in "advanced discussion with one other tower company" for the potential sale and lease-back of an additional 1,350 towers. That would leave Globe with 4,000 to 5,000 company-owned telecom towers, said Carlo Puno, the company's vice president for financial planning and analysis.. The sale of more than 7,000 towers would eclipse earlier transactions by rival PLDT, the country's largest telecom company. PLDT sold 5,907 telecom towers to Edotco Group, a unit of Malaysia's Axiata Group, and EdgePoint for 77 billion pesos. Globe, which is expanding its data-related services, said the bulk of the proceeds from the tower sale will be used to fund network expansion, while a quarter will be used to service debts. Globe Chief Executive Ernest Cu said the tower sale should improve internet access in the country. "We also believe that through these monetization efforts, Globe will be able to further improve overall operational efficiency, allowing us to serve our customers better," Cu said in a statement. The Philippines, which lags behind its big Southeast Asian peers in terms of tower density, has pushed for tower-sharing arrangements to improve telecom services and reduce expansion costs in the archipelago. Dito Telecommunity, the China Telecom unit that entered the market last year as the country's third major telecom player, may lease towers owned by independent companies. |

Telecom major Bharti Airtel on Monday reported 466% surge in consolidated net profit (attributable to owners of the parent) at Rs 1,607 crore for the quarter ending June 30, 2022, boosted by subscriber additions. It reported net profit of Rs 284 crore in the year-ago period.
The company's consolidated revenue from operations rose 21% to Rs 32,805 crore in Q1FY23 as compared to Rs 27,064 crore in Q1FY22. Bharti Airtel's mobile services revenue in India grew 27% year-on-year to Rs 18,220 crore for the first quarter from Rs 14,305.6 crore. The company's average revenue per user (ARPU) increased to Rs 183 in Q1FY23 as against Rs 146 in Q1FY22. ARPU of rivals Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea for the same period was Rs 175.7 and Rs 128, respectively. The company said in November, when it announced tariff hikes, that mobile ARPU needed to be at Rs 200 and ultimately at Rs 300, for a financially healthy business model. On Monday, the company's scrip on BSE closed nearly flat at Rs 704.35. Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO, said: ?This has been another solid quarter. We continue to deliver strong and sustained growth at 4.5% sequentially. EBITDA margins are now at 50.6%. Our enterprise and homes business has strong momentum and delivered strong double digit growth, improving the diversity of the overall portfolio. Airtel?s strategy of winning with quality customers continues to yield good results with an industry beating ARPU at Rs 183. "As India gets ready to launch 5G, we are well positioned to raise the bar on innovation. We are also confident of meeting the emerging needs of discerning customers looking for speed, coverage and latency. Our astute spectrum strategy over the last few years as we bolstered mid band spectrum is designed to deliver the best experience at the lowest total cost of ownership.? The firm said its 4G customers rose by 20.8 million on an annual basis and by 4.5 million on a sequential basis. Mobile data consumption rose by 16.6% YoY, consumption per mobile data customer at 19.5 GB per month, said Airtel. "Airtel to lead India?s 5G revolution with acquisition of ideal spectrum bank at least cost for best 5Gexperience and 100x capacity enhancement procured 19,867.8 MHz spectrum for Rs 43,040 crore in the recently concluded 5G spectrum," the company said in a stock exchange filing. The company has been raising money to fund its digital ambitions, including developing home broadband, data centres, cloud adoption as it prepares to launch its next-generation 5G services in the country. |

Correct.  When interest rates go up, those companies who are highly geared will have to pay more interests investors will have to ask themselves if they consider Singtel to be highly geared and whether it will be affected by high interest rates

good only if company don' t end up in bad debt, that' s something had to catch during reporting, over interest rate hike is good for lenders bad for borrowers, worst for end consumers.

I think this is add more oil right? Hehehe! Seems pretty exciting news!  Then again, some short term / day traders (shortists) will add more salt and saying it is not enough. Hahahaha....let us see who will be the first one to downplay this. Cannot wait to collect my dividends to do more stock shopping!  Long to enjoy!
