x 0   x 2  Alert Admin	Of course it is charting up due to the disposal of APLL, 50% increase in NAV almost result in similar jerk up in share price as NOl historical had been trading at 1.1X P/B valuation. that why lot of trading houses are upgrading NOL tgt price to the range of $1.30 - $1.55. More divestment by NOL would lead to higher target price, even though ship not making any profit. When ship returned to sustained profit, it would trade at 1.2X - 1.5X valuation as history chart shown. Strong profit would push it up to 2X P/B valuation. Hope NOL sell off the port terminals which are valued at US$800mil 2 years ago, now might be worth more due to QE3 effect. another big divestment would push NOL share price close to $2 valuation. Divesting those non core liner assets also lower the fixed cost which in turn lower operating cost too.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	After 15 April EGM, it gona be exciting for NOL since the possibility of it going privatised or merger with another carriers spike. NOL would had difficulty staying listed for beinga pure container shipping business. Other listed carriers in the world all had their stable side business like ship building / bulk shipping / offshore support / logistic to remain viable for listing. Having a pure container business is risky and do not quality for listing due to unpredictable earning. Unless NOL management can shown the market sustained profitabilty is possible else time for delisting. Even SIA also had their side business of airport/ logisitic/ interest in airline related business. So time to break up NOL assets and unlock value back to shareholders, we give them 3 years to prove themselve but they fail. APLL 17% of NOL reaps US$0.9Billion in profit, would like to know what about the rest of hidden assets would fetch. Stop the subsidies to exporters and start to think about shareholder interest else we kick the whole board directors lol. OLD man dead and cold , time for change.

It expects stronger consumer spending in the US to boost that trade this year. Goldman added that the sale of NOL' s profitable logistics business to Japanese freight forwarder Kintetsu World Express for US$1.2 billion in cash would shore up NOL' s balance sheet. " Balance sheet gearing had been our concern in the past, but we see this as partly restored." It also hinted at a possible takeover for NOL. Noting that the company' s valuations have reached a historic trough, it said: " Longer-term, we think ongoing consolidation of the industry may mean potential M& A opportunities." It did not say in its report whether NOL was more likely to be the acquirer or acquired, and declined to elaborate when contacted by The Business Times. Still, the report triggered a fresh wave of takeover rumours, which analysts said may have propelled the stock upwards on Wednesday. The US$1.8 billion container line' s natural partner would be Orient Overseas International, controlled by the family of Hong Kong' s first post-colonial leader, according to a Bloomberg report that cited Credit Suisse. The shipping industry has already seen two high-profile M& A deals in recent months, including the merger of Germany' s biggest container shipping line Hapag-Lloyd and Chile' s CSAV to form the world' s fourth-biggest ocean carrier, as well as Hamburg Sud' s purchase of Chilean shipper CCNI. Both happened last year. NOL had also said after announcing its APL Logistics sale in February that it would consider all options for its liner business. When contacted on Wednesday about a possible M& A, an NOL spokesman told The Business Times: " It is not our practice to comment on market speculation." Analysts were equally cagey on the topic of whether NOL may be the next in line. One analyst from an international brokerage, who did not want to be named, said that none of the big M& As over the past 12 months have involved Asian shipping firms, so it would be difficult to infer a trend. However, DBS analyst Suvro Sarkar said in the Bloomberg report that European shippers such as Hapag-Lloyd may be interested in NOL for its trans-Pacific routes. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	It all up to temasek holdingas they hold the controlling power in deciding the direction of NOL. they can bail out of NOL by delling off the entire shipping unit then returning leftover proceed to shareholder after clearing the debt. The big issue here the asset value of APL liner is pricey and they do not wanna to sell it cheaply but noone wanna buy the full APL asset. They only wants the ships and market share. So guess more offloading of liner non core asset is needed to make merger a likely possiblity. This might meant higher chance of a special dividend when they did eventually break up the liner supply chain. NOl exisitng business model is chartered based tonnage meaning they owned everything except the ships lol. they had the complete supply chain, warehouses, port terminal, train, trucks , container boxes etc. Basically they don sub contract stuf, everything DIY explain why the fixed cost is so high. Selling off APLL is the beginning of the supply chain breakup to reduce fixed cost. Other carriers that make money only purely do ocean shipping only, once cargo reached the port it full stop for them, customers had to source their own logistic. NOl is all in one package but at below cost freight rate due to over supply issue. So guess why every year big cost saving but losses due to huge sudsidy given to old customer, time to change this.

x 0   x 1  Alert Admin	NOL Strategy (Long Term Strategy- Merging with Top Shipping Company & Rewarding its Stakeholders) The SGX Market needs a role model as NOL is Singapore Flagship, NOL can use this opportunity to expand as well as gain creditbility to investors by proper rewarding system. Dividend Model need to be instill. NOL had potential & great infrastructure, with Asian Trade Routes booming signed by international trades. NOL must seek this and work with Top Shipping Company closely, filling its backhaul loads, as well as seeking for a Merger. 1) NOL Liner Division needs to merge with Top Shipping Company (Hapag-Lloyd or Maersk Line) 2) NOL  should consider doing a share buyback. 3) NOL should give  special dividends for every stakeholders of NOL [Sales of APL Logistics (USD 1.2 Billion)] since APL Logistics was not issued as IPO to stakeholders. Tamasek Holdings(65% stakes) can demand NOL to give special dividends,as it has the largest approval %. It is the right of a company to share some pie of profits to its stakeholders. If NOL follows above, NOL will be very successful :)

Merger with OOCL also out as they order 6X 21K TEU ships recently. Now left with the Japanese carriers MOL and NYH as Japan is flushed with cheap credit. Cross finger and pray. Don bother with maesrk as it could not increase it market share any more through takeover as it is very near cutoff level when regulator would come in for monopoly. NOL need to divest more asset to cut down the operating cost. In less than 2 weeks time, lot of shareholder plus temasek would press NOl management for answer to future plan post APLL divestment.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Selling off port terminals and 1.1M container fleet those non core assets better, then can it become more easier to merge with other carriers due to no more assets to be unlocked. This is to maximise shareholder value and no need to wait so long for NOL to be profitable, NOL problem is they offering premium all in one service with budget freight rate. Even maersk is ditching the premium service and do only the basic one as it is more profitable. Mindset in NOL must changed to commercial one then ship would return to profit. Luckily Singapore is embarking on more wellfare programme so need to plug into temasek money. Temasek would be forced to sell off NOL non core assets and forge a merger, ditching the management to third party while retaining a sizeable holding in new merger. Selling APLL is just the first step, more would  be unlocked for cash.
