Haiz, i hope u r not invested because alot here clearly dont know Medtecs well enough. PH and Taiwan yes they are a fixed contract manu for all the hospital in PH (linens, gear etc), taiwan they are one of the players. But in PH they also have their own factory to produce PPE for sale/export. But their CROWN jewel recently is the DUTYFREE Cambodia huge factory, most if not ALL PPE for exports are produced here because (a) Factory Big, (b) Tax Incentive so very competitive price. They also have factory in China (Hangzhou), though I think small. Their main market for export is Western Europe 40%.

Medtecs seems to be largely a contract manufacturer ( and some hospital services business) although they do have their own in-house brands of PPE. Does anyone know what is the size/proportion of their in-house brands business ? | ||||

in my humble opinion, the post-lockdown resurgent surge of new infected cases in countries like Germany, Korea is not even the 2nd wave (because the next winter is still not here yet)   but still part of the 1st wave. Imagine the numbers when the likely 2nd wave hits when the next winter approaches.   haizzzzz!

To be honest - I would really love to have my own surgical mask or PPE manufacturing capability now.  No matter how much wealth you have, and after the desperate hunting for surgical masks and hand sanitizers in the early stages of the silly COVID pandemic for your family members, and seeing 200 odd people queuing to buy a box of face masks in shopping malls - it is clear that this is a very viable and profitable business now and going forward. I was really sick and tired of going to Guardian and Watson pharmacy counters to have a pitying look from the sales counter staff that all PPE and masks were sold out. So I went out and bought hundreds of masks for my family and boxes of hand sanitisers, using the money I have at my disposal. So Yes, money does make a difference if it bothers you not, how much you need to pay.  For protection of your family.  SO, you see, Medtecs is in the right industry and the right time. And, it will be like this going forward. The only question is whether Medtecs can capitalise and make even bigger profits. Since they are already in the business, they should be able to scale up, replicate and gear up even faster than others.  Including in 3rd world countries that must also have been sick and tired of being denied PPE and mask products and now want their own manufacturing capabilities.  Who wants to rely on and beg China, Vietnam and Indonesia for face masks!!!???

Go read Medtecs Annual Report 2019. They have their own in-house R&D and had even patented certain medical products.

btw, the SG& Switzerland   PPE manufacturing companies which i visited have R& D arm in place many years already. nwadays, to coninually excel ahad your your closest competitors, which manufacutring company in any industry does not have a R& D dept to invent, innovate products & think at least 3 steps ahead of their closest competitors? U. think Medtecs does not have their R& D dept & only rely conservatively on deriving revenues & profits from their exsiting products?   Lollllllllllll

@80241a, MedTecs manufacture certified approved surgical masks among other certified, approved PPEs, not those cheapo uncertified, unapproved fake masks lah. it' s illogical to compare MedTecs certified, approved products with those " fly-by' night" cheapo masks selling everywhere. via yesterday' s news, even SG govt has taken down more than a 1000 advertisements prmoting the sales of fake unapproved, uncertified test-kits & uncertified medical supplies. let me raise an analogy, if u need to take some panadol, do u go to buy a certifed, approved panadol or u go buy an uncertified, unapproved cheapo panadol? Lollllll

Yeah. How to buy at 6c in today's market? By the time it goes back down to 6c, you probably won't want or dare to buy.

All the measures you have quoted are being implemented now. But, at what price economically? Trump is dying to re-open the economy even with the prospect of sacrificing his people. Humans are social animals, do you think that it is realistic to lockdown for 1 year? A practical and cheap alternative and precaution is for people to wear masks when they are out and about or at work. This pandemic had sent demand for medical PPEs soaring and it will come back down for sure. But it will not drop to the level of the pre-pandemic situation. And, of course, the visibility of Medtecs would be boosted too.
