x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	If the alliance between uber and CDG is successful, Singapore will have 2 major players, CDG and Uber versus Grab and other taxi companies. Eventually, an equilibrium will be reached, CDG will have to satisfied with reduced fleet size and reduced profit. Grab will also have to answer to their sponsors for profit. PHVs fares are bound to go up. Taxi fares will go down a little but still higher than PHVs, maybe 10% higher. The morale of the story? Enjoy while we can, we will definitely not have so cheap PHVs in the near future.

Demand could exceed demand in such instances and the price mechanism is used to regulate the situation. But the good thing is, once a price is agreed and accepted, then it' s deemed as binding to both commuter and driver. Taxi-meter, on the contrary, sometimes can become unpredictable. Due to different routes, different traffic conditions and different times. I' ve taken a cab to the airport from my home when going abroad quite a number of times and today, I can' t even tell what would be the fare.
