Hi, To add on to my point, why did the Soft bank bought into the UBER? I heard as high as 30% of the stake! UBER such a big worldwide private hiring company once listed, how much will the market share be? If our Comfortdelgro just be allocated 3-5% of the UBER IPO shares based on the Lion City Holdings, will the NAV gow up? How about transport sharemarket? Anyway the share price has already taken into account of the negative effects from the private hirer, how low can it go down taking into account that there are still SBS shares and MRT lines? You can try shorting the shares but I can bet Comfortdelgro and Uber will definitely fight back! They will make sure their merger is worthwhile! |

Just a gentle reminder that a 3 year old PHV car comes with a minimum 300,000 kms mileage. I wouldn' t want to touch it with a 10 ft pole.

Sir, as I said before, I was initally thinking it would be up by 10 cents or 15 cents. But now, after hearing so many negative comments, I think it may dip another 5 cents or at best stay at $1.91. Unless sir, you can enlighten me this point : Why did the share price dip on the preceding 3 days leading to the annuoncement on Fri? If I can get enlightened on this point, I will be more at ease now. Cheers!

I cant view this move by CDG as positive ...long or short term ( my view) 1. Price paid is 600+ M with 295M in cash ( do they hv to pay up front 295M cash to satisfy Uber ? ) ....is this too much for used asset and lost LCR? 2. What is the gain for CDG current taxis gp...the use of the Uber appln . ? ( are their drivers alrdy using Grab and are there true benefits? ) 3. How wld CDG profit grow ? ( fm the low margin maintanances business....where this LCR asset is depreciating over time...dont forget the 600M up front spending too . Good luck to this investment . 4. Why is the need for CDG to increase its asset w LCR cars? ( is it not hving a lot of un rented cabs aro ? ) Not wise right as this asset depreciate over time. Is the car rental market so profitable ....NO for sure. 5. Is this 600m+ wisely invest into Uber ? ( to use Uber appln ? to gain old asset of LCR or what ? ) I cant find reall profitable growth strategy here ....maybe time will tell.

Hi, Besides looking at the short-term gains, perhaps we can look at UBER IPO 2018. How much UBER shares can the Comfortdelgro be alloted based on the the holdings from Lion City? Will the UBER shares shoot up once listed? Don' t forget UBER is a world-wide private rental company and its scale is much bigger than the Grab! Anyway once the Comfortdelgro and UBER has merged, what are the chances that the no. of the Comfortdelgro drivers will increase since they have more avenues for revenue like they can be hired from the traditional hand flagged, on-call from Comfortdelgro and UBER and perhaps even the Grab apps! Just my 2 cents' views! |

an anology is... in an over supply rental housing market you still buy many houses with a view to rent out. does it make sense? in the car rental market it is worse. coz a car life span is only 10 years. . | ||||

Not a holder of this counter. Bought at 2.7 range and cut at 2.8 range alr last year, as I see this could be coming. Now, another bleeding exercise, from my POV. They alr own taxis, why add more cars, is that the way to compete with grab? And then roll out more discounts that could hurt the bottom line? I'm not sure but I would be pretty happy to receive other discounts other than what I have been receiving weekly. Well ppl would argue that's the TOP management decision, how would I even to judge them. Well, at least for me, this is a double down on the existing business model. Not a buy and sell call. | ||||

SINGAPORE &mdash As things stand, the deal between ComfortDelGro and Uber appears inadequate to turn the taxi operator&rsquo s bleeding business around, experts said. Transport economist Walter Theseira from the Singapore University of Social Sciences said the future of mobility platforms lies in algorithms, data and technology that match travel supply with demand &mdash and &ldquo not in the business of owning large fleets&rdquo . Dr Theseira said the deal was a &ldquo clear win&rdquo for Uber, since it was giving up a majority stake in a company with &ldquo rapidly depreciating vehicle assets&rdquo , which it is struggling to rent out and do not offer good returns on capital. However, it remains unclear how ComfortDelGro, which is already struggling with renting its taxis profitably, stands to gain by adding more such vehicles, said Dr Theseira. &ldquo On the surface of things, what it really appears to be (for ComfortDelGro) is a doubling down on the part of the business which has proved to be most challenging &mdash fleet management operations and rentals &hellip it&rsquo s frankly the business of the past.&rdquo &ldquo It&rsquo s not clear that this represents the kind of move that ComfortDelGro needs to stay relevant,&rdquo he added.
