The dividend for Q4/2016 is proposed at 5c so correct on that...but for FY2017 they proposing 4c per quarter...following is from their press release: " Outlook for FY2017 Based on the current outlook, we expect our Group&rsquo s 2017 service revenue to be at about 2016&rsquo s level and Group EBITDA margin to be between 26% to 28% of service revenue. In 2017, CAPEX payment is expected to be at about 13% of total revenue, excluding new spectrum payments. We intend to pay a quarterly cash dividend of 4 cents per ordinary share for FY2017." I highlighted in bold their 4c proposal. So for FY 2017 looks like they cutting. For Q4/2016 no.

Am holding some, and was tempted to buy more for a punt at $3 today - thankfully kept my itchy fingers off. Anyway, I think a drop in dividends has been factored in. Hopefully, this 4cents per Quarter will stabilise, and they can increase over time (once they join forces with M1 and wipe out TPG), LOL.

And the announcement suggests they going to only pay 4c quarterly dividend...for years dividend been 5c per quarter (20c per year)...wonder if they stick to 4c per quarter...decrease in dividend (if happens) be bad...yield be 5.2%...still good but not good news having a decline...

less and less people making phone calls overseas and locally ... iDD, Roaming and Voice rev will be down ... and data rev is under threat ... Broadband may do well with lower margin than Mobile .. PayTV .. who is not watching program on internet .. under much pressure on rev .. and rising cost ... but one good thing ..dividend is stable at 20 cents but can it last .. with decline mobile rev and fourth operator coming in ... and possible divident cut ? need to see a very strong cost cuting next 2 quarters to maintian ebita margin to pay current divident ... hopefully can see the share network cost with M1 benefits coming soon ... bear bear now ...

As of today, Telco stocks continues to lead in defensive position against Bear attack far better than Bank stocks which continues to surprise many. M1 fought till Top Position (-1 point), with Starhub right behind his back (-2 points). This was a fierce battle, with our heavyweight Singtel being bashed till blue-black (-4 points). Next come many people long time favourite Bank stocks which are pale to Telco stocks in defending their position. UOB leads the biggest fall (-35 points), followed by DBS (-10 points) & OCBC (-3 points). |
