Asian markets appeal to Singaporean investors: Franklin Templeton. April 17 2015 by Leena Dagade , Deputy Editor , Fhnd Selector Asia. Singaporean investors expect Asian equities and bonds to offer the best investment opportunities over the next 10 years, a new study by Franklin Templeton. Even as China?s economy is slowing, 49% of the investors said the country offers the best investment opportunities followed by ASEAN countries (26%) and India (17%). The optimism comes from better economic growth prospects relative to other global economies, rising population and consumption, along with reform initiatives in some countries like India, China and Indonesia. Stephen Grundlingh, co-CEO for S'pore and regional head of Southeast Asia (S.E.A) said: ?We believe that the long-term economic growth trends continue to be supportive of China, India and many markets in S.E.A. View on recent economic reforms initiated by China, India and Indonesia as encouraging. Coupled with attractive valuations, we remain positive on growth and investment prospects in Asia.? But, he added, ?Consistent with previous years? results, local investors demonstrate a strong preference for investing in Singapore and Asia." Iegard on ASEAN market, S'pore investors showed a home bias, with 61% favoring their own country for investments. Indonesia (14%) and Myanmar (9%) were the next favored in the Asean region.  Despite this optimism, 59% of the investors plan to adopt a more conservative investment strategy this year. ?This implies, Investors remain reluctant to invest in overseas markets due to news of volatility in global markets.? This largely gets reflected in investors? concerns over state of global economy, interest rate, market volatility, and the uncertainty in the European economy . In terms of asset class preferences, Singaporean investors believe stocks (57%), property (42%), and currencies (35%) will be the top three performing asset classes in 2015

Sufficient Rmb liquidity will allow S' pore will have such ability to clear transactions quickly. Specifically, industrial parks are required to install proper wastewater treatment facilities by 2017, wastewater treatment coverage should extend to 95% of Chinese cities and 85% of Chinese counties by 2020, wastewater treatment has to meet Grade 1A standards by 2017, and local govts are told to accelerate reform of water-pricing mechanism - a move that should raise water tariffs rapidly. New policies are expected to precipitate massive investments and industry consolidation over the next few years, which should benefit all three SGX companies exposed to the sector, SIIC Environment, China Everbright Water (CEW) and United Envirotech (UENV). Currently, all three stocks are trading at yawning valuation gap to A-share listed peers. Among the three water stocks, the house switched its Top Buy from SIIC to CEW (TP: $1.17). UENV (TP: $1.93) may take time to emerge from its recent RTO restructuring, and with more clarity on CITIC' s plans for the company, should benefit in the long term. All three stocks are rated Buy.
