Just curious.....how you arrive at 3.4 billion shares? $9.7 billion worth of McB, conversion price is $4.84,  my calculation is only about 2 billion new shares to be issued, if no redemption takes place.

The airline group may have to issue more than 3.47b new shares when all its MCBs mature in 2030
Just think of the massive dilution. Even if return to pre covid, whats the EPS? And biz travel cut down. Travel is more for holdiays.. pple wanna take budget airline or overpriced SIA? |

The MCBs for conversion is $4.84, above the current share price. in my view, the effect on ex-rights is negligible.

That is 1 reason not many short now, which could mean after 27 may onwards, shortiest may start to short and price could oso go down...although i still hope it goes above $5 due to sendiment that all bad things are over and SiA are soaring like a dragon !!

Ok what if shortists don't cover shorts today and SIA went up.
Then cum right means shortists have to buy back rights which are worthless

$2.20 should be a dream in my opinion. Should be above $5 due to the fact that worst is over and they would have over $10 billions cash to tide over and soar, imho.We are all guessing nia

What will be the theoretical ex-rights price?  TERP = (Mkt Cap + Funds Raised ) / ( Existing shares + new shares) = $ 2.2?

SIA share price should be viewed on long term.
Currently it is heavily shorted and longists are accumulating.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, I am inspired by the resilient spirit of the SIA team in navigating the pandemic, and in supporting each other through adversity. SIA is also preparing to emerge stronger from the pandemic by continuing to pursue its sustainability goals and has just announced its commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. We are fully behind you, and I am confident that SIA will soar again. S. Iswaran

It is better to buy the SIA shares now rather than pick up MCB Based on last year's trading pattern..current SIA status is the same as $3.52 to 3.60 After the ex date on 27 May, there will be a big jump in SIA price due to short covering. I am looking at above $5 mininum. | ||||

You pay $1 and at maturity it becomes $1.69797
But you get paid back as shares valued at $4.84
So $1.69797 / $4.84 = 0.35 shares
So 1000 MCB = 350 shares.
If the price of SIA is still $4.84 you sell and get $1698

Singapore Airlines Group Commits To Net Zero Carbon Emissions By 205024 May 2021 - The Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group today announced its commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050, reinforcing its long-standing strategy of working towards decarbonisation and environmental sustainability across its operations. The Group&rsquo s airlines, Singapore Airlines, Scoot and SIA Cargo, will use multiple levers to achieve this goal. These include investing in new-generation aircraft, achieving higher operational efficiency, adopting low-carbon technology such as sustainable aviation fuels, and sourcing for high quality carbon offsets. https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/media-centre/press-release/article/?q=en_UK/2021/April-June/jr0221-210524& fbclid=IwAR38VwirwQw5q5t0kwXlfr1wtkOEZYPsq5NcXlHeHXHS0oFJ13eLg__j94k# |

hi All, For the MCBs, if SIA did not redeem them at maturing date i.e. year 2030, does it mean each bond will be converted automatically at the  price of 4.84 bond is to 1 share ? What about the yield / interest that its supposed to have beeb paid if SIA had redeemed ? Are those not applicable at conversion, once the issuer decides to let it lapse ? Assuming a yield of 5% per annum, if SIA had opt to redeem, the share price during conversion time have better be at 4.84*(1.05)^10 = 7.84 per share.   |
