He made promises to the votees. He wanted to lead PH the opposition for two years as Malaysia Prine mibstry. I don"t think he promise Anwar to lead two years. So in two years. He can nominate his son to either as the DPM n or as most powerful 2nd DPM.

Barisan Nasional (BN) announced on Tuesday (Apr 24) that it will once again field  Nawawi Ahmad in the parliamentary seat where Dr M is hoping to stage a comeback.  Mr Nawawi, 57,  won the Langkawi seat in 2013 with more than double the number of votes received by his opponent then, the People' s Justice Party' s (PKR) Ahmad Abdullah. This time round, Dr M will be the one  contesting under the PKR logo. To win the contest in the 14th general election, he is banking on the development he had brought to the islands in his home state of Kedah when he was in power.  Mr Nawawi, however, urged voters not to get too sentimental when casting their ballots on May 9.  &ldquo He&rsquo s almost 100 yo, with due respect, Can he have physical strength and energy, let alone time to serve the people here?&rdquo he said after his  candidacy was announced. &ldquo I respect Dr Mahathir as a father figure who has vast experience. However,  in the case of elected representatives, we have to choose someone who can work day and night instead of a person who only comes to contest but later live  in Kuala Lumpur,&rdquo   he added Mr Nawawi, who is also the Langkawi UMNO  division chief, called on voters  to pick the candidate  who can  bring development to both the island and country. One analyst has questioned if Mr Nawawi will be able to stand up against Dr Mahathir' s legacy in Langkawi and his home state.  https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/barisan-nasional-s-nawawi-ahmad-to-face-dr-mahathir-in-fight-for-10171372

https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/408666 YOURSAY  ..................From Fellow M' sian:  In believe Dr M will go for jugular rather than to stand in a safe seat. Bandar Tun Razak is not necessarily safe seat, 37% Chinese n 9% Indians had voted for MCA' s Tan Chai Ho in 2004. Depending on his moves in coming 2-mths, If dare, then Dr M may be impassioned enough to place his stake in Putrajaya. There is no better seat for him to conquer than to take Putrajaya itself, n standing in the federal capital will instantly declare his seriousness in wanting to change the present regime. It will be a fight of the century no doubt, with BN' s guns and machinery all heading to  Putrajaya, and in any case, the incumbent Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor is not known to be infallible, either. Another forumer:  Indeed, Mahathir must stand in a solidly Malay seat as captain of the ship. If he hides like the MCA leaders do in safe seats, he doesn' t deserve to be the captain. If it is in Federal Territories, then he must contest  Titiwangsa  as suggested or not at all. |

' If Kit Siang can win Gelang Patah, surely Mahathir too can rout his rivals...' Let speculate on &lsquo Captain Mahathir&rsquo winning in a safe FT seat On GE14 - Pakatan Harapan' s prime minister-designate Dr M wanted n must win at all costs. Two years into n as M' sia Preimer. Why not for Dr M?, n oso for his son to be coming a deputy M' sia PM after he vacant his two years premiership. If he win GE14. He can claim credit. Yes. Umno is way too hard to crash out. the issue with Dr M is not whether he could win or how badly he can trounce his opponent, but that he must win at all costs. It will be interesting to speculate, on having a good chance in Langkawi or Kubang Pasu, in  Kepong,  Seputeh  and  Cheras,  he will give his opponent no chance at all. Bandar Tun Razak  would see another convincing win for him. Speculated, he should be considered for one of these six parliamentary seats, to take on Najib Razak..  |

Now, Dr M also clarified that he had never said, people of Sabah n Sarawak were lazy .
&ldquo I would be crazy to say that when want their support for us during the election. What I did say was that their leaders, especially of Sabah, are very greedy and that&rsquo s why they have stolen money from the Govt,&rdquo he said. Malaysia declared voting day on May 9 a public holiday  A  decision to hold elections on a workday triggered complaints n public angry. Move is seen as a bid to ease public anger after Election Commission announced that voting will be held on a Wednesday. The weekday vote triggered a flurry of complains that it would deter thousands of M' sians from returning to their hometown to vote. Some companies responded by giving their employees days off and offering to pay for their travel back home to vote. The hashtag (Go home to vote) trended on Twitter, with many M' sians offering financial assistance and car pool to those travelling back to vote. Critics have said the weekday vote plus a shorter campaign period could lower voter turnout and dent support for the opposition led by former Prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, who was Asia&rsquo s longest serving leader before he retired in 2003.

M' sian goes to the polls on May 9 for it GE14.  Election Commission&ldquo Campaign period will last 11 days,&rdquo said EC chairman Mohd Hashim Abdullah. Eleven days is the minimum campaigning period required by law.  May 9 falls on a Wednesday. This marks the first time M' sia is holding its polls on a weekday in almost 20 years. The last time the country held polls on a weekday was in 1999.    There are currently about 400,000 M' sians working in Singapore, with some residing on the island state  while many commute daily from Johor.  The  EC had said in January that M' sians living in neighbouring areas like Singapore, South Thailand, Brunei and Kalimantan, Indonesia are not eligible to vote by post and must return to Malaysia to cast their ballot. A mid-week election is also likely to affect turnout in the country&rsquo s less-developed states like Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak, say analysts, as voters registered there often live and work in urban centres on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. &ldquo Younger voters who live and work elsewhere would find it difficult to get leave from work and travel home,&rdquo said a political  risk consultant. &ldquo There&rsquo s a widely-held assumption that outstation and overseas voters are generally opposition supporters,&rdquo he adds.    Education Minister  M.Khalid declared holiday for all schools nationwide on May 9 in conjunction with polling day, reported the New ST news. Schools are often used as voting centres in M' sia' s elections, with thousands of teachers roped in to serve as EC staff.  According to Tan Sri Hashim, EC is using the electoral roll updated to the 4th-Q of 2017, which has 14.9 mil registered voters. The last election in 2013, M' sia had 13.3 mil registered voters, n an 85% turnout at the polls.  ![]() Early voting will be held on Saturday, May 5, for  over 300,000  registered early voters largely comprising army personnel, policemen and their spouses.  Upcoming polls is expected to be closely fought that will see ruling coalition Barisan Nasional (BN) pitted against Pakatan Harapan and Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS) in multiple three-cornered fights. A low voter turnout is  generally seen as benefiting BN. " If the turnout is less than 65% of the electorate, it&rsquo ll most likely be a landslide win for BN.&rdquo James Chin, director of Asia Institute, University of Tasmania. |
