Any one know the underwritter of Mary Chia ?...was it UOB KH seem this underwriter don' t care, just interested to get the IPO fee only , retailers die your own ??...( I think only)

not sure if it is a trend with SG IPOs but it seems like if it tanks on the first day of listing then chances are it will continue southwards. the other two IPOs this year - LHN and GCCP share the same fate. it is quite a shame that Soo Kee suffered thankfully cut losses on the first day as it looks very unlikely for the counter to climb back to IPO price in the near term unless UOB and/or management starts supporting the share price. |

This is a "want" kinda business, same as Mary Chia. Unlike Sheng Siong, it's a selling of "need" business.
Mary Chia IPOed at 23c, look at her price now. Soo Kee will have have the same fate. |

Too bad for those vested. Fair price should be 15 cents or below. Depend on the management want to support the price like Aspial then got chance to maintain higher price. Aspial volume is thin and the price has been very stable at 3x cents range for a long period of time. |

If you read their prospectus, it is an exit strategy. The owners have already cleared most of their kitty via past dividends out of retained earnings. Also, they need funding for their building in Changi South. Also their NAV per share is only 7-8 cents and PE 12.5. As for UOB being the sponsor and underwriter, probably UOB banked on the branding of Soo Kee and SK Jewellery as it is the most notable brand and they will not have issue on undersubscription and also their sister company, Money Max Financial also did a relatively successful listing in Catalist. . Unfortunately, the recent market conditions have made turn even the strongest IPOs into wimps. That is why US Manulife REIT held back its mega half a B IPO in mainboard.

Soo Kee not in mainboard don' t need consoldation...but why this year IPO by UOB many sub-water har..? not 10% but many 40% -50% ??..They overprice it and we retailers being con to buy their ' growth idea' by remisiers/dealers placement agents...

no worries and thanks for the inputs. din' t really like the fact that almost 27% of the proceeds are kinda sunk costs for the HQ while only 35% of the proceeds are for expansion of stores (hence potentially growth).
