PROSPECTS Global exploration and production (E& P) spending trend continue to improve due to firmer oil prices in the first quarter of 2018. However, recovery in rig orders is expected to take some time as most of the drilling segments remain oversupplied, with day rates and utilisation under pressure. The offshore production segment has improved with the FID of several projects. We continue to respond to an encouraging pipeline of enquiries and tenders for innovative engineering solutions. Repairs and upgrades business is increasingly competitive, although demand for LNG carriers and cruise ships remains strong. Regulations on ballast water treatment requirements coming into force in the foreseeable future will further underpin the potential of this segment. However, the offshore segment for upgrades and repairs remains weak. The overall industry outlook remains challenging. Despite improvement in E& P CAPEX spending outlook, it will take some time for this to translate into new orders. Margins remain compressed with intensifying competition. Based on existing orders, overall business volume and activity is expected to remain low, and the trend of negative operating profit may continue. We continue to actively manage our costs to align with business volume. We continue to prudently manage our cash flows through securing projects with milestone progress payments to minimise working capital requirements. Sembcorp Marine will continue to actively pursue the conversion of enquiries into new orders, execute existing orders efficiently and position itself well for the industry recovery. |

Let' s see how our local analysts n the market find the results. IMO it' s still early days for the recovery for businesses like SMM. However, market downdrafts from the US may affect our local market, which is still quite well supported, maybe becos China is counter easing to the US mindframe of higher bond yields n tighter money. | ||||

Turnover 1Q2018 1,180 vs 1Q2017 745.6 up +58% YOY Gross Profit 1Q2018 43.1 vs 1Q2017 15.2 up +184% YOY EBITDA up +18% Operating Profit up +121% Net profit in the black but down compared to 1Q2017 cos 1Q2017 has some gain from divestment of COSCO, also the adoption of new accounting standards SFRS(1). Comment: I expected a loss, since management has been guiding down previously, This result to me is a " neutral" . I prefer to look forward, where possible increased contract wins may come with sustained higher oil prices n also increased utilization of Tuas Mega Yard which has advantages over others. So far SMM has won all the " prestige" contracts. Depending on how is the general market, I may add on to my small recent position that I started a week plus ago. |

Did keppel marine sector got a loss as well? Well 2017 1Q, Scm got $40m profit, but mainly due to a one-time asset disposal profit of $48m, which means, actually SCM year2017 1Q has a core loss of $8mill, Now, 2018 1Q, Scm registered a profit of $5m+ , this is a good swing for the core, Many analyst were expecting a slight loss for 2018 1Q, moreover this quarter, we see a weakened USD (3% weaker), this would also had a negative impact on revenue (most contracts are pegged in USD) Can only hope USD improves, and SCM bagging more contracts soon, then we might see much stronger Q2 profit, |

I have try many time and cannot upload image in win7 professional.
Bo bian. Although it hit the w3 ext EW w5 234. But look very weak on the main EW. Hope to see a main EW weak correction and a strong w5. Then tgt 245 is possible. And main w5 should be ext EW.

Very chim...can show graph and explain next time???? SCM is now is upward trend supported by rising oil price + pereived even more rising oil price + some contract wins. Wed Q1 results might break the trend (very unlikely) or ensure the trend contiunation. Next hurdle $2.45.

W4? W5? W1 27 W2 22 W3 43 tgt 250 - px hit 235 way below projected. - delta 28 up 104% not strong. w4 11 tgt 224 dn 38.2% - hope got a short correction w5 27 tgt 251 - and a strong wave 5. - but normally wave 3 cannot be the shortest.
