CHIEF executive officer (CEO) of StarHub Limited, Tan Tong Hai, has bought more than half a million worth of the company' s shares from the open market on Thursday as the stock fell to a six-month low.

Shares in the telco reached a low of S$2.56 apiece on Feb 15, a 10.14 per cent plunge and the largest one-day decline since StarHub' s IPO in 2004. The last time the stock hit this low was around mid-August last year.

In a Singapore Exchange filing on Monday, the group said that Mr Tan had purchased some 200,000 shares at S$2.59 apiece last week. This represents a 10.4 per cent discount to StarHub' s closing price of S$2.86 per share on Feb 14, the last full market day before the transaction.

Following the deal, Mr Tan' s shareholding in the company will increase to 754,854 shares, or 0.04 per cent from 0.03 per cent previously.

 Alert Admin 		my taking is that they took the tough bite to report the capex in this Q with huge drop in profit ..once this is over, the acquired business will geenrate additiona revenue for other quarters. It will eventually bounce up but how long nobody knows.

​ remembvered they played to 2.98 in the last 3 months from 2.5x level.. patience for those who want to scoop low

yesterday' s run up was for funds to run.. push and sell.. hope no one bought into the temp rally.. i think let it settle and can enter in once selling done.. funds will re enter when things are at the lowest. all these will take some time... the last time it they pushed down to 2.5x and ramp it to 2.99...

Over four years, CIMB Research expects StarHub' s mobile revenue to go down by a cumulative of 7.9% and its contribution to total service revenue to plummet by 52-55%.

According to a report, mobile service revenue (MSR) could still rise by 0.9% in 2017 and 1.4% in 2018, due to its subscription fee hikes.

Despite the raised competitive pressure from the entry of more mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) and a continued decline in roaming revenues, this can still be offset by StarHub' s $5.10 a month subscription fee hikes across its postpaid plans in September 2017.

 Alert Admin 		whats so good about dividends of 4 cents? Look at the price history for past 5 years.. Loss until pants drop for longist.. Sg Telco is not a long term viable biz already, that deserves to be valued at a premium.. It will come down to below its NAV for sure. It should be valued below nav

The group released its results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2017 after the close of trading today and announced a final dividend of 4 cents per share for a dividend of 16 cents.

The Group plans to issue a dividend of 4 cents per share for the fiscal year 2018, which is 16 cents for the full year.
