The purchase agreement comprises 39 firm orders, as well as six options for each aircraft type - which if exercised will enlarge the deal to as many as 51 aircraft. The firm orders are valued at US$13.8 billion, based on Boeing?s published list prices. ?SIA has been a Boeing customer for many decades and we are pleased to have finalised this major order for widebody aircraft, which will enable us to continue operating a modern and fuel-efficient fleet,? said SIA CEO Goh Choon Phong. ?These new aircraft will also provide the SIA Group with new growth opportunities, allowing us to expand our network and offer even more travel options for our customers.? The 777-9s are intended primarily for long-haul routes and are due for delivery from the 2021/22 financial year. The 787-10s are to be operated on medium-range routes and are due for delivery from the 2020/21 financial year. SIA is due to take delivery of the world?s first 787-10 in the first half of 2018, from a 2013 order with Boeing for 30 aircraft. |

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The days where there is a national airline for every country is over, says Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic).
Malaysia, he said, could still have a national airline but it did not necessarily have to be owned by the government. "Now you can have a number of airlines. One of those can be called a national airline because it carries the symbol (of the nation) but it can be operated by the private sector," he said in an article which appeared in Going Places, the in-flight magazine of Malaysia Airlines. He was responding to a question on whether there was still value in having a national carrier other than for patriotism or pride. I am not talking about the payscale of pilots across nationalities. I am referring to the no of Singaporean pilots vs foreign pilots currently employed in SIA.

Foreign Pilots are paid the same. You may ask our fellow Malaysians. It&rsquo s good money in ringgit but compared to Chinese Pilots it is indeed pathetic.

I have a acquaintance whose family flies business class frequently when they go on holiday coz he is mid management. They get upgraded. Then Wife posts all over FB to boast.
So instead of selling the seats, they do this. How to get better profits? |

Do you know how Singaporean pilots in SIA? I can tell you that it is pathetic. FTs are always sought after in big companies as they wanted cheap and good labours. Singaporeans can fxxx spiders, the hard truth which many Singaporeans denied or chose to live in self-denial.

look at the payscale. This airline is actually paying their pilots fairly under average but despite the poor financial results, their CEO is getting a very substantial pay raise every year. The operating cost is indeed high, but it&rsquo s obvious who&rsquo s driving it up

Meltdown in SIA - no longer the world' s best airline and quite cost heavy with expensive Singapore pilots. They should bring in foreign pilots from India and SEA countries to lower the operating and staff cost. | ||||

When SIA sink below 9, recession is not far behind. High chance sg q3 gdp would go into contraction and if trade war drag on till 2020. Sg would be in technical recession 2019 and full blown recession 2020. If u wanna buy cheap wait for next year. Anyway nobody would got heart to load up in very uncertain time unless u using other people money. That why fund manager win most of time, they would never use their own money to trade lol, everything safe safe in low yield tresuries lol | ||||
