Dear Eyxm86: Let me explain why this MCB will NOT be disadvantage to you as they claim. Don' t be misled by the analyst and internet. If you do a research, it is likely they tell you this MCB is diluting the shares. Let' s say you bought 10,000 SIA shares at a price of $5.50 which was the high price. You paid $55,000. You received 20900 MCB rights. You need to pay $20900 to receive 20900 MCB On 8 June 2030, you get additional 14587 MCB In total you will have 35487 MCB You convert these to SIA shares and you get 7332 SIA new shares. Now your share diluted to 17332 SIA shares.  These cost you $55,000 + $20900. Therefore you paid $4.38 for these shares On the other hand, the person who sold you the 10,000 shares at $5.50 do not have the shares and had borrowed from the securities. Since you did not buy from SIA  as your shares came from the securities, you are buying from a agent. Therefore you paid these $20900 to the agent who in turn has to give you the shares in future.  On the other hand the agent lent the shares, the $20900 went to the borrower to dilute the shares. As the cost price of the shares has reduced to $4.38 by dilution, the borrower has to buy back the shares from the Market below $4.38 to make money. This is why the analyst are saying the shares are worth much less now.

But there were no flu vaccines in 1918, when the world didn&rsquo t yet know that the great influenza was caused by a virus, H1N1. In 1957, when the H2N2 pandemic swept the world, flu vaccine was mainly a tool of the military. In the pandemic of 1968, which brought us H3N2, the United States produced nearly 22 million doses of vaccine, but by the time it was ready the worst of the pandemic had passed, and demand subsided. That  &ldquo too little and too late&rdquo   phenomenon played out again in 2009, when the world finally had the capacity to make hundreds of millions of doses of H1N1 vaccine some countries canceled large portions of their orders because they ended up not needing them.

I will make a bold guess that by end of next year we will all mask off, it will just be a normal flu virus by then. Long to enjoy

Just to clarify: Analysts are predicting this Covid 19 lasting for many years as it becomes endemic.
Then we have to look at history..
All major calamities, pandemic did end.

I took up my full alotment of 35,400 First Trance MCB. That cost me $35,400 I took up the full alotment of rights issue and applied and gotten excess rights - each cost me $3  Even with SIA on downtrend, the lowest price was $3.20. I did not lose money for my $3 rights. But First MCB went down to 0.86. I bought 600 MCB from open market at 0.87 to average my MCB cost. So you will not lose money if you buy and hold, average down your cost if the price goes below your price

Let's say there is a market crash and SIA falls to $4, investors desperate for money may sell their MCB at a loss to raise cash. MCB may crash to 0.90

Market price is base on amount you pay. So it is $1 If nobody buys from you, then you sell lower at a lost. I don't think anyone wants to buy from you higher then $1. Therefore your money is stuck for 9 years | ||||

You top up ( throught your broker ) or pay via ATM $1000 for 1000 MCB, not shares. Before 16 June 2021 There is a difference between SIA shares and SIA MCB. SIA shares can trade up to $5 ++ but MCB will trade around $1 ( or even less then $1)

Let' s say you have $10,000 you want to invest until 8 June 2030 You can buy 10,000 MBC ( bond) with this $10,000 if you use 10,000 MCB rights to subscribe. On 8 June 2030 your account will be credited with additional 6979 MCB ( bond ) to make a total of 16979 MCB With this you can convert to SIA shares. You will get 3508 SIA shares. If SIA shares is trading at $5 and you sell 3500 SIA shares, you will get $17500 On the other hand if you use your $10,000 in a margin account and buy SIA shares at current price of $4.91. With 70% financing, you can buy 6700 SIA shares. If you keep these 6700 shares till June 2020, you need to pay compounded interest for the amount you borrow ( $23333) in your margin account. I think with a 3.99% compound monthly interest, you need to pay $10061 interest. So when you sell your 6700 shares at $5, you will get $33500, which is only sufficent to pay back your margin loan. Then you lose all your $10,000 initial investment. Therefore in the long term, MCB bond gives you an advantage. Margin is only short term. This is the reason why so many people are selling their margin account in favor of the MCB |

1000 MCB rights to convert to 1000 MCB you pay $1000
With 1000 MCB bond you will receive 1697 MCB bond on 8 June 2030.
The 1697 MCB / 4.84 = 350 SIA shares on 8 June 2030
