Hapag-Lloyd has selected two Chinese yards for its next fleet expansion, orders that total $5.25bn if all options are exercised, making it one of the largest containership orders in history.

Broker Intermodal reports the German carrier has contracted Yangzijiang Shipbuilding to build 10 firm plus five options 17,000 teu LNG dual-fuelled ships, costing $210m each. The ships will have 1,600 reefer slots each.

YZJSB net profit 1H24 already US$460 millions with 25% profit margin this year and YZJFH? Cannot imagine he console himself, if not of China stimulus YZJFH is a kill by itself of stagnant minimum profit.

 Alert Admin 		Yes, I was in FH from day 1, in and out along the way, I can understand their emotion and frustration then and the joy now.

Happy for them too, but whether FH can do a real turn over now since white knight has already appeared on 24 Sept 24.

Hope both YZJ do well in the years to come.
