True, share price has not been inspiring while mgt enjoys good remuneration.
There is a holding company discount and spinning off the assets plus distributing the shares to investors may be better way to unlock value. The board (not Moon) needs to drive this. Surely Temasek also wants higher valuation for their assets. |

I hate to say this .....any business it is the bottom line. SO ...in 3 yrs how much do we think this wld contribute to Singtel profit if any ? separately what is the investment return ? < MORE so , singtel is still sick ( have not even see $3 for yearssssss) ....have they CUT and save cost on this super TOP heavy management ( sleeping beauties ) .....ONLY and yes only bottom line is important ....selling assets can only last so long . There is no need for SingTel to be the dominant beneficiary of AI development. We only need SingTel to improve its top and bottom line by leveraging on AI.
Apart from providing green AI data centres to host the high computing AI GPUs via Digital InfraCo, NCS can also develop AI apps to support enterprises. Furthermore, there is the unique combination of AI and 5G that SingTel can take advantage of for new business use cases. Finally, AI can help SingTel manage its core and customer ops more efficiently. |

Telcos will not be the major beneficiary of AI. Other companies along the value chain will be, as they are better positioned to capture the value. It was the same with internet growth, smartphone growth etc. |

Singtel forges AI alliance with major global telcos
To collaborate with SK Telecom, e& and Deutsche Telekom. Nurhuda Syed Nurhuda Syed (Channel Asia) 03 August, 2023 09:00 Singtel has formed a Global Telco AI Alliance with three major telcos, South Korea-based SK Telecom, Germany-headquartered Deutsche Telekom and e& from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The four telcos signed a multilateral memorandum of understanding to accelerate the transformation of the existing telco business with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) The telcos aim to jointly develop the Telco AI Platform by combining their respective technologies and capabilities. The Telco AI Platform is expected to serve as the foundation for new AI services, including those designed to improve telco services, digital assistants, and super apps that offer a wide range of services. ?This alliance will enable us and our ecosystem of partners to significantly expedite the development of new and innovative AI services that can bring tremendous benefits to both businesses and consumers,? said Yuen Kuan Moon, group CEO of Singtel. ?With our advanced 5G network, we are well-placed to leverage AI to ideate and co-create and are already using it to enhance our own customer service and employee experience, increase productivity and drive learning.? The alliance has also agreed to cooperate to develop new growth drivers through AI-powered business models ? this, in hopes of improving overall customer experience through AI technology. To facilitate the cooperation, they will form the Global Telco AI Alliance Joint Working Group, which will aim to have discussions on issues such as co-investment opportunities and the co-development of the Telco AI Platform. The members will soon discuss the designation of a C-level officer from each company to coordinate the overall collaboration. The four telcos also plan to support each other in operating AI services and apps in their respective markets and cooperate to build an ecosystem. 1. SingTel set up Digital Infraco to build regional data centres 2. KKR invests in Digital Infraco 3. SingTel secures green loan (pegged likely to data centres) 4. DPM Wong announces Singapore ambition to lead in AI development and set up iconic AI site 5. Nvidia announces data centre expansion in Johor and interest to participate in Singapore AI iconic site 6. Set up of Special Economic Zone in Johor to faciiitate Singapore-Malaysia collaboration, enabled further by upcoming RTS in 2027 7.. Singapore Govt will let Temasek linked companies play major role in these developments We know SingTel will play a significant part in this next wave of AI growth. AI development is complemented by SingTel?s capabilities in NCS, GXS, telco core and ownership in various ASEAN + India + Australia telcos. Investors be patient and see the big picture. Complainers can continue to whine about Moon?s team but hold on to SingTel nonetheless.
