The company has to answer to major shareholders who own the shares at higher prices.
This MCB exercise gives major shareholders, including Temasek a chance to average down their cost price.
Having raised so much money, company is responsible to make good use to generate income. Therefore more percentage is allocated to expansion like buying new planes.
SIA has to get ready fast before other major airlines recover to Tap on the travel market
So how can people say it is wrong thing to take delivery of new aircrafts?

The bottom price after this MCB exercise may be higher judging from fact that there are some non shareholders willing to park money in MCB thereby increasing the demand for shares | ||||

Dear Tigerplay:
According to my calculation, an investor who bought SIA at $10 before the pandemic and did not sell but took up all the rights, mcb and going to take up this other MCB will have a cost price of $4.81.
This is taking into account the dilution, the 9 years of biannual compound interests of 4% had he place the money for MCB into CPF at 4% interests.
So for a very long term investor his cost price after all these is $4.81.
It is unlike you can buy this price.
If you have bought at 4.86 to 4.87 past few days, they are likely the base price.
Today I am queuing to buy at 4.87 again

may need to change target buy price laiow, up 30cts to 4.80 start buying as SiA look real strong to be going down to 4.50 laiow, look impossible in near term to hit 4.50 based on these 2 weeks moving price

SiA now loaded with cash, with the mcb, they would have more than 10billions, so buy buy buy lor. Also with new plane, keep up with the trend to entice more passengers lor

I think the difference could be that SARS goes away, whereas Covid19 is like that annoying housefly.....don' t have sheltox can' t really kill it.

i' m one of them on standby, will start buying from 4.50 downward, the lower it goes the better, although on hand i got a batch above $5...either way, can play, but just move, dun stay put like now....if stay put at $5 or so, cannot play liaow.....

The reason why they r doing all these were due to their experience with SARS. They stop their capex and let staff go. In the end, they did not really recover as fast as they like. This time round they learn from their mistake. But unfortunately, this time round, the situation is abit different.

Most probably SIA wouldn' t hit $3 range but likely to hit around $4.05 range based on my TA I estimated it wouldn' t issue any dividend for about 7 years. So, if u r ok with no return for years, u r welcome to buy anytime now
