http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/08/technology/bitcoin-ico-fraud/index.html?iid=EL Feds start to crack down on fraud as Bitcoin soars...... The Securities and Exchange Commission has  warned investors  to be on the lookout for " potential scams" involving Initial Coin Offerings. ICOs are sometimes called " crowdsales" and function similarly to an Initial Public Offering on the stock market, but without the governmental regulation. They typically receive investments in the form of cryptocurrency in exchange for shares known as tokens. But  ICOs can be for any sort of startup -- they don' t necessarily have to be for cryptocurrency companies. |

http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/19/investing/bitcoin-crytpocurrencies-sec-bubble/index.html SEC suspends trading of red-hot bitcoin stock Is bitcoin a bubble? Maybe. Maybe not. Only time can tell....Securities and Exchange Commission suspended trading Tuesday of The Crypto Company until January 3, citing " concerns regarding the accuracy and adequacy of information" about compensation paid to promote the firm and plans for insider sales.  The Coy describes itself as a business that " offers a portfolio of digital assets, technologies, and consulting services to cryptocurrency markets" with plans for a " rollout of a full scale, high frequency cryptocurrency trading floor."The Crypto Company was not immediately available for comment about the SEC action. The SEC has taken steps lately to crack down on potential frauds and scams surrounding bitcoin and other digital currencies, particularly with initial coin offerings or ICOs. With an ICO.

Monetary Authority of S' pore has issued a strong warning http://www.straitstimes.com/business/economy/bitcoin-is-not-a-currency-investors-risk-losing-allmas Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) - " Extreme Caution" . " MAS is concerned that members of the public may be attracted to invest in cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin. Cryptocurrencies are not legal tender, warned MAS. " They are not issued by any govt and are not backed by any asset or issuer," noting that recent surge in the prices of cryptocurrencies is driven by pure speculation. " A sharp reduction in prices is very likely. Investors in cryptocurrencies should be aware that they run the risk of losing all their capital." Bitcoin bubble has been growing as its price has risen 1,700% since the start of 2017 to as high as US$19,666 (S$26,480) on Sunday. " Bitcoin has no natural intrinsic value. Sopnendu Mohanty, MAS' fintech chief in an interview with British daily The Telegraph on Monday. It valued at US$19,000. Anxiety is mounting as mainstream exchanges launch bitcoin contracts, lending them an air of legitimacy. CME Group Inc, world' s largest derivatives exch operator, on Sunday the 2nd exchange to launch bitcoin futures trading, seeking to capitalise on the mania for the booming digital currency. CME' s move followed that of Chicago-based derivatives exch Cboe Global Markets, which launched bitcoin futures on Dec 10. But exchanges can also be dicey. South Korea' s spy agency said North Korean hackers were behind attacks on cryptocurrency exchs this year in which some 7.6B won (S$9.43M) worth of cryptocurrencies were stolen. A South Korean cryptocurrency exch - Youbit - is to file for bankruptcy after it was hacked for the 2nd time this year. Part of the problem is that there is no regulatory safeguard for investments in cryptocurrencies. MAS does not regulate cryptocurrencies. Nor do MAS regulations extend to the safety and soundness of cryptocurrency intermediaries or the proper processing of cryptocurrency transactions." Most operators on which cryptocurrencies are traded do not have a presence in S' pore, it would be difficult to verify their authenticity or credibility, said MAS. " There is greater risk of fraud when investors deal with entities whose backgrounds and operations cannot be easily verified." Cryptocurrency transactions are generally anonymous, which makes them vulnerable to being misused for unlawful activities, it said. " If a cryptocurrency intermediary is found to have used cryptocurrencies illegally, its operations could be shut down by law enforcement agencies. There is also a risk of loss should the cryptocurrency intermediary be hacked' . Warning that investors could be left high and dry, it said: " Members of the public who lose money from investing in cryptocurrencies will not be able to rely on any protection afforded under legislation administered by MAS." MAS regulator last month published its list of guidelines for ICOs or initial coin offerings, outlining case studies for which digital tokens will be considered securities. Its multi-phase Project Ubin in partnership with banks has been exploring blockchain technology and its applications. Last month it released a report showing how blockchain technology can improve the payment systems that now enable banks around the world to transfer trillions of dollars a day to each other and help them manage their financial liquidity.

Moreover, even after accounting for their completion in 2020 to 2021, average net supply is still not excessive at slightly over 11,000 units per year. This is below the five-year average absorption rate of 13,200 units and also far below the 19,500 units that were added annually between 2014 and 2016. The brokerage sees a window of opportunity for stronger rents and prices in the near term on tighter net supply.

Why it's too early to panic about property oversupply The trend now is for every unit taken out from en bloc deals, three to four redeveloped units replace it. Each unit taken out in the recent en bloc deals will be replaced by three to four units in the redeveloped project, causing worry amongst the property market, Maybank Kim Eng said. "Whilst this is a valid concern if the trend continues, we opine that it is far too early to be worried as the redeveloped properties won?t resurface until 2020-21E," said analyst Derrick Heng.

Sgporeans hav 1 thought in common thinkg tt when a loan can be serviced by mthly income, one is saved. Cars can sell, properties cannot. When no demand, prices will drop some more. Same like shares. When will the dust come? A bottomless pit. For the LKY league, plenty of buffer. For newbees, waiting to mati. Buyg with no profits in a dead economy.

Yes, life in Singapore for the middle class is rather bleak. Costs of living very high. Upper Middle Class and Rich are lucky and will prosper. Depends which side you are on. PRs should go back home.

No new companies come into sg, where to find jobs?? Existing gd companies r all waitg to be sold. Left with unemployed PRs or citizens driving grab or uber. With no new companies to set up shop in sg + a weakening sgd, who will want to buy/ rent ur vacant properties? Tax is way too high in sg for no benefits for singaporeans nt to say PRs. Edu= jobs. No jobs = lousy education.

SGX-Exch. Famous for been a Shortists Exchange lahh. Unless they going to do something like shortening trading day. Heard they going to shorten contra play to two days, then trading houses may even extend it to 5 - 7 days for players to pay up.
