StarHub ' s cybersecurity business, Ensign InfoSecurity, saw a 79% revenue growth with a full-year turnover of $145.7m in 2019, according to the company' s annual general meeting. MAINBOARD-LISTED StarHub is working to grow its cybersecurity arm' s top and bottom lines, after Ensign InfoSecurity turned its first quarterly profit in the three months to March 31, investors were told V3 Fintech, V3 Group&rsquo s unit that spearheads the development of digital and financial technology, has teamed up with local cybersecurity and fintech firms to build out a robust infrastructure for digital financial services. V3 Fintech&rsquo s new partners include Temasek Global Cybersecurity platforms ISTARI International and Ensign Infosecurity, local robo-advisor platforms Auto-Wealth and peer-to-peer lender SeedIn. With these strategic partnerships, the unit aims to continue building a regional digital financial services hub based in Singapore to serve SMEs and their workforce. As part of the partnership, ISTARI and Ensign will support V3 Fintech in developing its cybersecurity strategy and function, including areas such as capability and technology development, testing and validation and operations as well as awareness training. |

Some weaknesses in your arguements, for the benefit of the non-Telco biz investors let me share my two cents so you can DYODD... Broadband - circuit breaker forces people to work from home and many families are upgrading their broadband Providers have been offering better deals, and Broadband rate sare coming down annually, however subscriber numbers are flattish, how to grow revenue if you have to cut prices to retain customers amid fierce competition? Voice - circuit breaker forces users to upgrade their phone plans due to increase data. Roaming services will pick up when sgp eventually allows travelling Increased DATA use does not translate to increase revenues, for those on unlimited plans or high data plans, the only cost going up is the network infrastructure cost to keep up with the bandwidth needed to manage data plans, however again compare data rates one year ago and today, the rates are lower, so again lower rates for subscribers how to make money?? Cable TV - TV contents is expensive e.g. ESPL, World Cup, etc and competition is fierce affecting margin. My point exactly, Starhubis turning to cheaper content which is not popular and may soon have to exit this low margin business. Data - 5G special application layer has to work together with 5G telcos. This does not mean 5G telco has to lose money. Moreover, telcos has other businesses besides 5G. Starhub is a Singapore only operator without hinterland/regional networks to rely on growth. As for Singtel, most of their overseas investment are losing huge money. There are only a few licensed telco in Sgp and this industry is " protected" . Starhub continues to be profitable during circuit breaker vs other stuggling lose making companies/industries e.g. airlines, F& B, etc. Starhub is better position to ride out of this current covid situation since it had taken steps to trim it' s work force last year. Starhub shares had dropped significantly during past few years and makes current price attractive. The business has been profitable even during this covid period. Shareholders can expect to receive dividends. Singtel was making money from its overseas shareholdings in Optus, AIS, Globe and Bharti only until recently, you point actually solidifies my arguement, the fact that across Asia and the world profitability is coming down tells you that Telco' s are unable to find new revenue streams, they are now truly a " Dumb Pipe" while Netflix, Facebook, Google etc etc eat their lunch...Starhub shares will never see 4$, the chances of Starhub revisiting 0,90 SGD is way much higher than $4 SGD. If you are investing in Starhub you need to ask yourself a fundamental question..what is their MOAT, what do they have that the others in Singapore do not? sadly nothing much, it was once a solid dividend play and appreciating stock, its best days are behind her, its now a value TRAP..Bulls make money Bears make money...PIGS get slaughtered....dun be an OINK OINK..

MALAREN International, a StarHub subsidiary based in Malaysia, has entered into a RM270 million (S$88.7 million) sustainability-linked term loan facility agreement with CIMB Bank, the consumer banking arm of CIMB Group. This is StarHub ' s first loan in which the interest is linked to the achievement of sustainability performance targets, the telco said on Thursday. Under the agreement, StarHub will be eligible for interest savings each year if it is able to achieve pre-agreed annual targets for its CDP Climate Change Scores from FY21-23. CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, is a global benchmark on the management of climate-related impact. It assesses responders' progress towards environmental stewardship, StarHub said. |

I think anyone buying STARHUB is better off buying 4D or TOTO, let me explain why. Voice - Its a commodity service. Roaming is Zero at the moment, IDD traffic is at all time lows cos whatsapp is eating their lunch. Try to recall when was the last time you made a 008/018 call. So voice will soon be a dead service, no revenue. Cable TV - IP boxes/Netflix are eating their lunch, Singtel is outbidding them on key content, NO EPL, NO Asia Food Network, compare Malaysia' s Astro channels and what Starhub offers, you will be amazed how Starhub can still be in the Cable TV business. I predict Starhub will soon throw in the towel on Cable TV business. Data - the 5G wet dream, somehow people feel this will magically save Starhub. Think logically, its the Application layer that makes money, DATA is a commodity service, you can get an Unlimited Dataplan from My Republic (which by the way is run by mostly Ex-Starhub people) for 39 SGD, thats right 39 SGD!! I use it and its super fast and non stop!! and if you think these small MVNOs will not offer unlimited 5G think again. https://mobile.myrepublic.com.sg/plans/unlimiteddata Broadband - the last gasp chance for Starhub, and there they are up against Singtel, My Republic, M1 etc etc etc...enuff said. Last nail in their coffin, Starhub is a Singapore only operator, they have no hinterland/regional networks to rely on growth for like Singtel. Its ugly for Telcos, i should know I worked in Telcos the last 20 years, Starhub will be below 1 SGD soon. Its not a bad company, its just that the game has changed but starhub is playing like the game is still the same....
