APL was probably sold as the debt was probably sky high with tons of interest to pay and need to cut debt, that' s why NOL sold off APL to reduce debt either by payment or mortgage via paper play probably...

Now Japan is on massive QE mode, printing lot of new yen note to boost comsumption and rasie inflation. Best example is the US$1.2B buying spree by KWE for APLL, 15X P/B valuation and 5 fold increase in valuation when NOL bought over the assest in 1997 lol. Can u imagine how much the whole group would fetch, it gona be worth hells lots. Post APLL divestment after 2Q 31 Jul 15, NAV would jump 50% from $0.90 to $1.40. Checking NOL balance book u would find it had total asset over $11B and total debt $6B and that is pre APLL divestment, post APLL debt would drop and asset gona be boosted. This kind of stock cannot look at share capitalisation, need to  dig out the hidden non core asset and total asset value. Why japanese carriers reason is simple they would pay very high price plus low regulation objection. APLL divestment to KWE is testing stone for eventual divestment for whole group and it clear the US regulation with ease. Japanese willing to pay premium cos their loan is basically interest free for a very very long time and yen is going the devaluation path long term plus US dollar strengthening too long term. it is a case of buy stuff before ur currency got demolished in the med-long term. Another interesting fact if u dig out past NOL business activites in past years, NOL charter 5X new14K ships to MOL. Who in the right mind would buy new ships then later charter it to ur competitor unless u got damn good business relation/ friendship. In short NOL is a  complete ocean shipping solution for any suitors who wanna expand their market in the fastest way. NOl making losses due to incompetent singaporean management board as everyone is making money except NOL.  in conclusion i wanna  stress  ship is not bad only bad thing is the incompetent  nol management in the top who is disconnect with market trend.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	ah gong has to sell NOL.. it is making 4 yr consecutive losses despite with profitable APL.. once they sold away their APL, dunno how they going to survive.. if NOL really gonna turn around with profits & expecting share price to move back up in a sustainable manner, ah gong would not have sold.. on a side note, with this rumours of merger/acquisition, wont be surprise if NOL price goes up.. afterall singapore market likes these kind of news.. ppl buy news like this, not so much on companies fundamentals lol..

Unless Zhou Yu (NOL Management) & Sun Quan (Tamasek) do not assist Zhuge Liang (MetalTrader), otherwise Zhuge Liang will succeed in defeating CaoCao in Battle of Red Cliff with Fire Strategy. In 2015- Zhou Yu had taken the Lower Strategy of selling APL by $, but not in issuance of share (Upper Strategy as advised in 2014). However, in 2015 Fire Strategy was advised.
