I don?t understand why Sph need so many newspapers, 2 English newspapers - ST and TNP..... 3 Chinese newspapers ZB, SM and WB.... it is right to do national service, but not until wasting resources.... should consolidate into 1 language per newspaper!

Indeed, that is the more important issue in life.  Coming back to SPH business, some experts on the ground have noted SPH' s shifting of their core business from media to property (development and management). There is some truth in this. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Indeed, the SPH management and some more enlightened ones around may also have seen this, that the ' collapse' in the advertising business and the transformation of the whole media business has led to SPH' s core business to decline.  However, without the other ' sideline' businesses, SPH may have gone under much earlier. I now fear that the leverage used to fund these assets purchases may eventually weigh on the company. A reversal in media fortunes in SPH can come about by collaborating with digital technology providers and marketting/advertising giants for a share in e-business, intellectual property rights and the timely and mass dissemination of news and information. Some of these ideas may well have been expressed by some of the younger participants in this forum. But take it from the old birds, of whom Rocketman has represented, that SPH' s core business - media, must definitely make a rebound for its share price to also. How? Hence it is in my opinion... unless u see a clear path of growth projectory in the Media business segment, the share price will reverse its long term trend.. Else it will be just zombie along the Golden Dollar mark. Sadly but truely in my most humble opinion as a layman.
