Please dont talk about bailing out SIA. Let it settle its debt. If they don' t bail out Hyflux in the first place..We need water and electricity more than flying trips overseas!....what makes SIA so special and our tax payers money cannot be used for this! They are also private company.. We shall see what happen to SIA... |

All of us are told to plan cash for 6 mths in case lost jobs.
I dont understand why this cannot applies to companies? Where is their risk mtgm policy? Expect taxpayers to bailout? |

Yes, Temasek can bail out SIA - but it can be at SGD2. Bailout is to save jobs and Singapore' s connectivity to the world - not to save shrae prices. I have also not know them to be very generous at buyouts.

Temasek and GIC should be looking at the bigger pictures, not on SIA or any other industry on its own. The aim is to ensure Singapore' s continued survival and future participation in the global economy. We are not like the US that can print unlimited reserve currency, or like China that can be self sufficient for a very long time. I think SIA can take care of itself much longer than most other international airlines, we can probably take cue from their governmental interventions. So until borders are reopened, might as well let the market (equity and debt) find its own bottom. No point pumping money in to SIA if China, EU and USA decides to keep borders closed for a year. | ||||

Yes, Temasek will bail out SIA if needed. A lot of examples from other countries for Temasek to justify its action.

Don' t worry about SIA. Many of them are already on unpaid leave, many contract staff are not renewed, some golden handshake, etc. I know that you are celebrating the downfall of SQ.

There are many GLCs under the wings of Temasek. How many of them really need bail out from Ah Kong? The collapse in prices do not necessarily mean that the companies are facing bankruptcies. 1) DBS - no need 2) Singtel - no need 3) Keppel Corp - no need, derive profits mainly from properties, infrastructure and fund management fees. O& G continues to face headwinds, lost making. The O& G is the only segment that is dragging the performance of the company. Without O& G, it is quite profitable. 4) SCI - no need , power and utility are defensive in nature. 5) SMM - already lost making for a few years, merge with Keppel Marine is inevitable or privatise it. 6) SPH - no need 7) SingPost - no need 8) SIA - need financial assistance urgently 9) SIAE - short term no but medium term yes if outbreak is prolonged 10) SATS - short term no but medium term yes if outbreak is prolonged |

You may be right about it. It will drop to around $5, and see what' s the reaction of Temasek. If Temasek does not show its support, short sellers will hammer it down to $2-3 eventually. Short sellers will huat all the way.

Yes. Especially if rights issue which will dilute value of shares lower. Unless temesak launch a offer similar to Keppel.. too many companies to save. SATS? SIAE? Semcorp, Singpost? Lol, why all the S companies... like S chips
