The WHO said it was collecting evidence about the variant of concern (VOC), as countries around the world scramble to stop it from spreading. But despite a growing number of countries registering infections with the new variant, no deaths have yet been reported to the UN health agency.     " I have not seen reports of Omicron-related deaths yet," WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier told reporters in Geneva. " We' re collecting all the evidence and we will find much more evidence as we go along. " The more countries... keep testing people, and looking specifically into the Omicron variant, we will also find more cases, more information, and, hopefully not, but also possibly deaths." While Omicron has rattled the world, Lindmeier also urged people to be mindful of the Delta variant, which accounts for 99.8 per cent of sequences uploaded to the GISAID global science initiative with specimens collected in the last 60 days.     " Omicron may be on the rise, and we may come to a point where it takes over to be the dominant variant, but at this point, the very dominant variant remains Delta," he stressed. Lindmeier added: " The restrictions that were put into place in many countries just two weeks ago - economical closures again, lockdowns in some areas, closures of Christmas markets in parts of Europe - this was done before Omicron because of a rise of Delta cases. Let' s not lose sight of this." The spokesman urged people to use proven measures protect themselves against Delta - and thereby against Omicron. The WHO has said it will take several weeks to get a full picture of the transmissibility and disease severity of Omicron, and to assess how vaccines, tests and treatments hold up against the new variant.     As Omicron spreads, pieces of information are emerging from various countries. " What we need to do is we need to take all these observations, assessments and tests and get this information together and then have the experts look at it, carefully weigh it and come up with the assessment. That will still take some time," said Lindmeier. " Preliminary data show that there is higher transmissibility. But that' s basically all we have so far."

AND whenever analysts give a certain target price, it means can be worse. So if target price is $0.68, it means the share price still has room to drop.. maybe to below $0.60. Van Kerkove said there are increasing hospitalizations in South Africa, but public health officials haven?t seen an increased risk of death yet, but they?re waiting on more data. Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of the WHO?s health emergency program, said public health officials initially saw mild cases with the alpha and delta variants as well. It could take two weeks to see increased mortality associated with omicron if the variant does, in fact, cause more severe disease. ?It takes time unfortunately,? Ryan said. ?We saw that as well in previous waves of this pandemic. When the incidence rate goes up, it takes a week or two for that to result in hospital admissions and deaths.? Van Kerkhove cautioned there?s a reporting bias at the moment which may obscure how virulent the variant really is. Many of the people around the world who have tested positive for omicron were healthy travelers, which could explain why the symptoms reported so far are mild. ?If you?re traveling, you?re not sick or you shouldn?t be traveling if you?re sick,? Van Kerkhove said. ?So there?s a bias in terms of what is being detected at the moment, but that will change over time.?

Uncertainties on Omicron ease the market sell down But Omicron happen alrd prove the condition for covid-19 to mutate so much is present. You never know something much much worst suddenly hit us. No one actually want the world to end becos it affect us more than losing money. But we in an environment that the things I mention will happen at higher chances.

This is also a critical point Hector      ( Date: 03-Dec-2021 17:57) Posted: now market more or less think that Omicron is likely more contagious then Delta but with less severe illness if vaccinated That is why PPE and glove are falling hard But this is still early to conclude If Omicron is like Delta, and can affect those vaccinated in old ages and those with medical conditions such as chronic illness like HBP and HC, etc  Then market will understant that Omicron will be a serious health issue to the world. Then I think market will do correction again and Smart money might rotate back to PPE and glove stock Now Pfizer also surrender to covid saying that it is necessary to do annual jab in order to get max protection from covid This is because covid can easily mutate, as long when there are people not vaccinated and those with low immunity such as old folks, HIV, etc  Basically, we are now living in a world of Covid.  Llastly, we need to also understand that our natural immunity will be our last line of defence, when booster jab fails finally.
