If dun think much, then it is much like gambling, taking a bet without knowing what one is in for! Many people have paid the price and got burnt in the stock market for not thinking much and only betting on news and noises which may not always be trustworthy. I take my own experience as an example. Not to boast here. But I have made consistent returns (without any loss in buying and selling any shares at the moment) and grown my investment portfolio size over a good period of time through making wise investment decisions. These decisions are carried out not by my own emotions or sentiments but based on careful thinking and analysis. Not to say that one must think until the head break or suffer damage, then can start investing. But a reasonable amount of due diligence still needs to be done in order to make prudent investment decisions. Each person may operate differently and I cannot insist (or force) another to follow my way. But my way of operation has worked for me so far so I am sharing what I think upon the current take over proposition. I am not insisting one must follow what I have shared. It still continues to make reasonable good revenue and net income growths y-o-y considering it is a fairly large business owning and controlling close to around SGD 30 billion of assets. With such an attractive proposition plus yesterday' s announcement by GLP, there is definitely a basis to speculate that a take over may happen in future as the company is currently doing strategic reviews of its business. However having said that, one must also factor in a chance that a take over may not materialise in future since nothing is confirmed at the moment. GIC our sovereign wealth fund which has a substiantial stake in GLP could reject a possible take over if they see that it is not a worthy transaction to sell GLP' s business yet. The potential suitors could also change their mind if discussions on the take over price, terms and conditions are not to their liking.  Unless there is further announcement of confirmation that a take over is going to happen, nothing is really confirmed yet.
