For the sake of the suffering Myanmar people, I hope there is a roadmap to peace and stability. Whether it will happen or not, it is very hard to guess at this stage. Compromises must be made by the Tatmadaw and CRPH/NUG.

ntegrator has operations in a lot of different countries, not just myanmar yoma is largely (if not solely) based in myanmar hence, yoma will be very much affected compared to ntegrator

9:00 p.m. Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will attend Saturday?s meeting of Southeast Asian leaders in Jakarta, Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein says, adding that he will accompany Muhyiddin. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, the current chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, has invited regional leaders to discuss the crisis in Myanmar. |

Following the news closely is more useful than analysing the TA of Yoma and dreaming of "closing the gap".
Be realistic. ------ Tuesday, April 20 5:40 p.m. Myanma Radio and Television, the state broadcaster better known as MRTV, reports that the National Unity Government announced last week by pro-democracy politicians has been deemed an unlawful association. The NUG includes ousted members of parliament. 4:45 p.m. A coalition of Jakarta-based nongovernmental organizations have criticized ASEAN?s decision to invite the junta leader to the bloc?s upcoming summit, arguing Myanmar?s seat should be given instead to the National Unity Government ? formed by pro-democracy politicians including ousted members of parliament. ?Giving the seat of representation in the ASEAN to the legitimate government means ceasing all actions that legitimize the power of the military junta,? the NGOs say in a joint statement. ?We urge ASEAN to take firm and effective actions in dealing with the coup ? [including taking steps to] ensure investigations against members and leaders of the junta involved in violence and killings of the Myanmar people.? |

Dont expect too much from the 24 Apr ASEAN meeting. It is not the PMs who are attending. MAH may not attend as it lowers his stature. ------- Tuesday, April 20 1:20 p.m. Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha says he will not attend the ASEAN summit in Jakarta on April 24, where leaders are expected to discuss the Myanmar crisis. Thailand will instead be represented by Deputy Prime Minister Don Pramudwinai, who is also foreign minister. " I also learned that many countries are sending their foreign ministers to join the meeting," Prayuth added. |

The point is not whether the Junta is attending the meeting, but rather the rest of the ASEAN members want the Junta to attend. The moment ASEAN accepted the Junta to attend the meeting, it basically means ASEAN had accepted Junta being the new government.. US sanctioned Myanmar.. if ASEAN resume trades with Myanmar, ASEAN should be sanction too by theory.. No one wants to take this risk..

It would be an important step towards restoring some stability if the National Unity Government is invited to the ASEAN meeting on 24 Apr.
The best scenario would be some roadmap to de-escalate the crisis with face-saving yet principled compromises from both Tatmadaw and NUG. If nothing concrete comes out of it, Yoma will fall deeper. Let's observe how the situation evolves.
