The sentiment may be slightly less gloomy compared to 6 mths back when N. America was suffering from severed and prolonged winter. Geo-political risk aside, there is a better chance of sustainable turnaround this time. We will see if NOL can rise above 0.98 over next few days. However, there will always be some winners in any situation no matter how small that population will be. Are you making any suggestion of any winners due to such geo-political developments, since you are not recommending bros here to stay on the sideline but instead suggesting NOL 'is not the only good bargain'. Should one interpret such a recommendation to switch stock BUT yet you remain optimistic of NOL and It is still good bargain just 'is not the only good bargain' ? In the last 48 hours, markets moved up when Putin said he will do how best to end the Ukraine conflict (nobody seriously know what he meant), then there was report of attack on an Russian armored vehicle and Dow dived down 138 pts. Prior to that, Dow was up 61 pts due to drop in tension. Dow then recovered to close down 51 pts as there was lack of updates of any further escalation of the incident. I think you will do much better being a trader in forex and futures as these flip flops offers tremendous windows for speculation and day trading. Let's talk about something closer to us and not too distant memory. When someone across the causeway declared currency control and immediately made the Malaysian shares traded on CLOB in Spore illegal, there was blood bath as financial houses immediately forced investors to redeem their shares or dumped them in open market. Opportunist emerged across causeway to offer to buy at rock bottom prices. That's geo-political stuff that you better act decisively and very quickly and the impact is swift and deadly. Back to Ukraine, history will reveal that at the end of the day, the US and European will not do things that will hurt themselves ultimately. You only see in movie that someone will grab an enemy and then point a gun to shoot through his chest only to sacrifice himself too. Markets will react of varying degree to geo-political developments such as when Russia attacked Afghanistan and US intervene to lend their support to the other camp. I believe they didn't order as much as new giant vessels as nol but they manage to break even. Year ago, I was convinced that APL is a high cost company running in nol. We singapore are willing to change and adapt new structure to be profitable and as competitive as possible. However samething may not be happen in US. The management and staff there may still enjoy beer and their high bonus and not willing to change. So problem is not nol is APL. Very less volume are traded in nol, BB may play up and down which still give chance to earn small profit. However, putting the money in it mean taking the huge risk that tomorrow NOL may go default payment on loan or right issue, no matter which happen, with weak foundation of nol, price surely will be punished. Why taking so high risk in your investment. There may a lot of share in sgx, us hk and erg worth to invest
