Brazil was identified as the gold mine for Sembmarine and Keppel Fels 10+years ago and both invested heavily in Brazil. EJA yard in Brazil would likely be valued over $1billion today. They want to quickly pay money to resolve Operation Car wash so they can go back to gold mining again. | ||||

Indeed. These new contract FPSOs are bigger than the previous FPSO, nevertheless, they are already making profit on previous FPSO and will more profit for these new FPSO. Petrobras will be launching new tender soon for additonal FPSO and Seatrium is well positioned to win them again.

It seems to me that the profit margin for P84 and P85 is at least 20% for Shit5e2. For another yard, the margin might be less than 10%...therefore no bidder to compete with Shit5e2. Reasons are 1) they have the 2 most advanced yards in Brazil. A competitor will have to pay a hefty price to meet local content requirement (+5% margin) 2) Out of the 5 petrobras FPSOs contracted over the past 3 years, Shit5e2 is building 4 of them (P78, P81, P82, P83). Building almost replicates achieve efficiency (+5% margin) 3) Petrobras is building cutting edge " GREEN" FPSO which Shit5e2 has many of the required patents and deep engineering bench to support. Also, they are the world leader in FPSO integration. (+5% margin). If building a generic FPSO for Guyana and Africa, which operator is not so concerned about environmental friendliness and want the cheapest option, China might get most of the biz. Even then, 80% of the integration iwork is still done in Singapore. So for Seatrium, 20% margin. For a competing yard, 5% margin |

For $1B net profit, Seatrium can pay dividend of ard $120 assuming payout ratio of 0.4 (YZJSB 0.35-0.4). Payout ratio can also be higher if they are confident of their earnings. Additionally, they can declare special dividend to reward shareholders. Hope to hear of more good news tomorrow on their biz business. More contract wins on the way !

Not only the big 11B value, the fpso is US4B each as compare to previous 3 fpso, the price increase is tremendously. This clearly show that management will not go ahead with low profit margin project in the future.
