at the end of 2Q15, NOL ended service on 2 transpacific trade lane namely NYE and SE1. So guess that is cost cutting and charters expected to retired in 3Q15 too. Morever the effect of under US$50 crude oil would start to dribble down NOL bottomline as hedging reset. Those carriers making losses all belong to asia-europe trade lane hehe , europe demand collapse in 3Q and all doing throat cutting price cut to maintain market share. US economy still running strong compare to rest of world and if iam not wrong NOL customer base now is all the old customers who got constant cargo load for NOL to transport. As long NOL not stupid enough to go expand it US trade lane service, profit is more or less there. TO make money in container shipping, u gonna cut capacity and secure stable cargo load to ensure max ultisation of ships then u can be sure of profit since oil is really damn cheap now. |
