BEIJING (REUTERS, AFP) - The death toll from the coronavirus in China rose to 131 as health authorities at the epicentre of the epidemic reported another 840 confirmed cases, even as Beijing reiterated its confidence in containing the disease. The number of people confirmed to be infected in China&rsquo s viral outbreak soared to 5,974 on Wednesday (Jan 29), the national health commission said. The health body said they were also monitoring more than 9,000 suspected cases of the virus. |

So far, this virus seems to be less letal, mortality rate is about 2 to 3%. Will it mutate and become more powerful, we dun really know. SARS mortality rate was much higher at about 10% but it was less contagious. Will this epidemic get worst? Very likely because it can spread before simptom appear and it happens at a time when huge number of people travel.
