not sure why usually in the late afternoon in the recent days, there were always huge selling pressure.... dropped from 1.29 to 1.22......huge dumping ....not sure if there are more " unsurfaced" issues at SP which were only discovered recently... |

@Ray12888 Im afraid you are wrong. Singpost is far from dead, even a quick analysis of the fundementals can tell you that. In Singposts last quarterly report they also stated a clear plan: " Announced in August, the strategic review of the Group&rsquo s strategy by SingPost&rsquo s leadership, together with the SingPost Board, is being finalised. The review, which is developing a roadmap for improving the Group&rsquo s performance, affirms SingPost&rsquo s vision to become a postal and eCommerce logistics company. There are four key themes for the next phase of transformation: 1. Establish market leadership in Singapore&rsquo s eCommerce logistics sector, building on SingPost&rsquo s strong infrastructure backbone and harnessing technologies to serve the growing urban logistics needs of a smart nation 2. Deliver full value from the Group&rsquo s investments, integrating operations across geographies and continuing the turnaround of TradeGlobal 3. Ignite future growth engines by capturing a greater share of global cross-border eCommerce volumes by strengthening the Group&rsquo s strategic collaboration with the Alibaba Group and its associated companies. SingPost will also continue building out its eCommerce logistics capabilities in Southeast Asia and 4. Drive towards cost leadership, enhancing competitiveness and providing customers with best value by optimising costs and reengineering operations. " - Singpost press release If you thought Singpost was dead because of a declining postal buisiness, you are wrong as Singpost is starting to form its ecommerce and logistics department. If you thought Singpost' s management was incompetent and did not have a clear plan, then you obviously did not do your due diligence. In fact, Singposts postal and logistics segments have grown in revenue this quarter, showing that they have strong growth potential. " Free cash flow improves For the half year ended 30 September 2017, free cash flow improved to S$11.6 million, from negative S$11.8 million in the corresponding period last year, due to lower capital expenditure with the completion of the Regional eCommerce Logistics Hub last year. As at 30 September 2017, SingPost&rsquo s cash and cash equivalents stood at S$282.3 million, down from S$366.6 million as at 31 March 2017. The decrease was largely due to net repayment of short term bank loans. " - Singpost press release If you thought Singpost' s balance sheet was weak, well you are very wrong. Singpost' s cash decreased to pay off debt, and its free cash flow increased too. Ecommerce revenues were down but that was only due to TradeGlobal, Jagged Peak volumes increased and I think after TradeGlobal has been turned around, ecommerce will start flourishing again. In conclusion, Singpost is obviously not dying and it is only impacted by short term woes, so I don' t see any reason to sell it, much less short it.

Also from the same date, it will stop accepting delivery of international small packets by ship as several postal organisations have ceased to accept such forms of conveyance, it said. Demand for such a service is also low, with most senders choosing to use airmail. International postal settlement rates - the amount that SingPost compensates other postal organisations for mail delivery in their country - are being raised on Jan 1 next year. These rates are set every four years by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a UN agency that sets the rules for international mail exchanges. |
